I ordered a Pavlova for my son's birthday to pick up on the 19th of December. That night when I was cutting it up to share with family it was falling apart. It had syrup all through it like they had used a tin of two fruits to pour over it. It had hardly any Pavlova in it and lots of cream holding it together. There was some fresh fruit hiding the liquid underneath. My son and the others couldn't eat it as it was too sweet and messy. We have always bought our birthday cakes from Cakes on Carthew and been happy. Very disappointed this time. I rang them the next day to give feedback. The lady I spoke to said they don't get many orders for Pavlovas and this time of year doesn't suit the way they make the pav. Thought it was a strange thing to say given that they advertise that they make Pavlovas this time of year. There was no offer of a refund or credit. We had to throw the pav out. Horrendous customer service, I simply requested a quote or some info regarding a small white cake for my birthday and received this exact response "We cannot do this cake for you at all, sorry." I work in customer service. how I would have written this message to ensure my business was polite and respected would instead be "Hey Jadyn, Thank you for your enquiry! Unfortunately we cannot make this particular cake for you, however …" and then at least offer a reasoning as to why, other alternatives (do they not want business?) and how else they can help me in regards to my request. I had previously called in advance and was told to wait until closer to my birthday to place my order, which I did, now being told NO. I politely asked why this design couldn't be done and simply - no response from cakes on Carthew?! show some more kindness to your loyal customers. Will NOT be going back, rude for no reason. ruined...

I recently visited.”Cake on Carthew”to order a birthday cake, and I was very happy with their service. They took the time to understand my requirements and delivered a cake that met my expectations perfectly. The quality and taste were excellent, and it really made the celebration special.

However, I did notice that the variety of cakes on display for walk-in customers could be expanded. It would be great to see more options available without pre-ordering, as it would offer a more exciting experience for spontaneous buyers.
