McDonald's Tumut — Restaurant in Tumut

It wasn't a particularly busy day and we waited over 20minutes for our meal, watching as four customers went to the staff in that time to tell them that their order was wrong. We finally decided to ask and they said it wouldn't be a moment before turning to yell that they forgot a meal. The self serve ordering machines are placed where you have to line up for the counter, AND the pathway that the workers take food out to cars is along that route also, resulting in an area with too many people with or without COVID. They had chemical cleaners bottles placed on the counter where you pick up your food. The coin donation machine fell on a small boy as it wasn't bolted down and another lady had to run to pull it off him. We also saw three staff member literally step over an ice-cream that had been dropped just at the front door numerous times, not one of them cleaning it up. (One being a manager who stood next to it as she allowed people in and out of the shop) a wet floor sign mere metres away inside that they could have put on the hazard for the time being if needed. I visited here and was absolutely shocked at what I and other diners had to witness. Firstly, the Manager and Crew trainer on shift at 3:30PM where absolute superstars, running around getting things done. Unfortunately the state of the dining room was appalling, the maintenance person was mopping the floors, moving the rubbish and food around with the mop and causing slip hazards, then after had being asked by the shift manager to help on the counter. He did not wash his hands prior to touching food. Wiping ice-cream off the bench onto his pants, grabbing an ice cube out of his mouth and then started making drinks. There was a worker wearing a dirty jumper whilst making orders. The food was disgusting, the burgers were cold, chicken was not fresh and the beef had a cleaning taste to it, when asking for a refund we were turned away. The staff were nice & friendly but the restaurant was an absolute mess & it was too hot & stuffy inside, maybe the A/C wasn't working.

Not sure if they were under staffed or running lean or if we'd arrived not long after a busy period.

Food was up to usual expected McDonald's standard.

5 Stars for the Staff. 1 Star for the mess.

As a tourist passing through the area, this McDonald's would have to be worst I've ever had the displeasure of visiting. Whilst the staff are nice & pleasant, the store & the food is absolutely disgusting. From cold fries cooked in old oil through to a mess everywhere throughout the restaurant. Prospective visitors will find better food elsewhere as you won't find...
