The 3 star rating is for the overall experience and not the food, if I was only rating the food, there would be another star.
Busy waterfront restaurant with average food and somewhat overpriced menu items. The biggest issue I have with ordering at the table, and it’s not the QR code, is the lack of customer service you receive. The only time staff were seen was for the delivery of food or drinks. There’s no follow up after the meal is delivered, asking how everything is, or suggestions of more drinks. This is where restaurants are missing out on the up sell (and tips).
Ordered the seafood platter (Oysters, salmon, seared tuna, pickled mussels, crumbed prawns, crab cakes) and the thrice cooked potatoes, after all who can go past thrice cooked anything.
Most of the seafood platter was fresh and tasty. Lovely creamy oysters, fresh tasty salmon, nicely seared tuna and nice pickled mussels.
Charcoal Crumbed prawns... not really sure the charcoal added to anything, assisted teeth cleaning perhaps. Crab cakes, so much potential so much disappointment. They were so bland. The majority of the crab cake was stodgy flour potato mix, unseasoned and a little like glue. There was crab, but you couldn’t find the sweet delicate flavour within the stodgy filling. They were the let down of the dish.
Thrice cooked potatoes were crunchy and fluffy as they should be (except for the random soggy one that found its way in) but the onion ketchup was nasty. It was more like someone had made caramelised onions and once removed them from the pan, swirled a bit of water around the base and called it sauce. Wasn’t worth wasting a crispy potato on.
$75 for the platter and spuds. Not a bad price. Not nearly as much of an overprice as the $24 cheeseburger I saw...
Read moreWe got married @ At The Heads in late March 2025, and it was honestly one of the best, most beautiful, joyful and amazing days of our lives! I stumbled across the venue online and instantly loved the vibe, so we went for a visit and knew straight away it was the one. Even more gorgeous than the pictures.
Maddy was our venue planner and was incredible from day one. She actually helped seal the deal for us—super personable, organised and completely on top of everything. We knew we could trust her with our big day and she absolutely delivered, above and beyond.
The venue itself is the perfect blend of Victorian bushland and rustic seaside charm. If the weather’s on your side, we highly recommend having your ceremony outside under the gum trees in front of the water. So dreamy!
My partner and I are big food and wine people, and the menu didn’t disappoint. Generous portions, beautiful meals and totally customisable. We added on a few fun extras as well, like a spritz bar and oyster station, highly recommend. So many of our guests said it was the best wedding food they’ve had. We also went with the tiramisu tower for dessert—individual tiramisus served in beautiful glass coupes—and it was the perfect sweet moment to end the night. Guests loved watching it being put together at the back of the dance floor!
Also—huge shoutout to our dedicated server who looked after us the whole night, making sure we had food, drinks, and everything we needed. Such a thoughtful touch.
Our guests had the best time, with so many telling us it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to! We’re so grateful to Maddy and the entire team—we honestly couldn’t recommend At...
Read moreWe had our wedding at At the Heads in April 2025 and could not have asked for a more perfect day! It was the very first venue we looked at, and nothing else could compare. Sitting right over the water, the space gave us the perfect mix of a relaxed, beachy vibe with plenty of room for a huge dance floor. It truly exceeded everything we had dreamed of.
From start to finish, Maddy was absolutely incredible. Her recommendations, regular check-ins, and support made the whole planning process smooth and stress-free. She was always clear, friendly, and available whenever we needed guidance. We honestly cannot thank her enough for helping us bring our ideas to life.
Our outdoor ceremony overlooking the water was breathtaking, and Maddy made sure every detail flowed seamlessly. The setup was stunning, and our photos—both professional and personal—captured it perfectly.
The food was another highlight. Our guests are still talking about how delicious everything was (some have even gone back since to enjoy it again!). We also chose the cocktail hour and cocktail tower, which were such fun additions. No glass was ever empty, and the staff balanced attentiveness with giving guests space. A special thank you to Brooke, our waitress, who was so warm, friendly, and attentive all night.
We and our guests had so much fun from start to finish, with the perfect balance of heartfelt moments, incredible food, and a packed dance floor. We are beyond grateful to Maddy and the entire team for creating such a magical experience and the most perfect day. If you’re considering At the Heads—don’t hesitate, it’s everything you could hope for in a...
