A modern restaurant in a beautiful setting. We had a lovely lunch here but it did fall short of being a perfect experience. The food was delicious, we particularly loved the side dish of the brussel sprouts. So much thought and effort went into this dish and it really showed! Loved the beautiful cripsy bits and the sweet pop from the pomegranate combined with the feta. The fried chicken and triple cooked potatoes were also highlights. One note regarding the beef dish, I definitely would have preferred less and smaller pieces of apricot in the couscous. But that could just be personal taste and the rest of the dish was delicious. The one real let down with the food was the scallop starter. Three of our group ordered one and they all found them to be flavourless, overcooked and chewy. There were two tiny Tassy scallops per serve that were completely drowned in butter and at least one of them still had the poo tract left on (picture attached shows the pool of butter and poo tract after my father ate his scallop). Disappointing in size and especially in quality considering they cost $9 each. Now to the drinks. We ordered a bottle of wine to have with our main meals. 7 of us at the table, 5 aged 60+ but when we asked if they could leave the bottle of wine on the table so that we could pour it ourselves we were informed that this was not possible as it goes against their RSA training. We have never come across any restaurant with this policy before, it was the most baffling part of today's service and I would highly recommend that you rethink this for your future diners. It really tainted the experience for us and made us feel as though we were naughty children that can't be trusted. Bizarre in a posh restaurant. Attached is the photograph of our bottle of wine, carefully out of reach so we can't enjoy reading the label on the bottle we purchased. Overall we had a very good experience and the food was wonderful, but we did feel that there is room for improvement.

We got to BE cafe early today & took in the picturesque location. Staff greeted us warmly but there’s no table service here - you grab your own menus, water & you place your order at the counter - this is becoming the norm of late. Our Coffees were in a generous mug, made well & our food followed promptly. The poached eggs on sourdough were well made as were the extras of bacon & hash brown. My mushroom medley is recommended for its flavours, the feta, dill & lemon, wonderful to see & taste a real selection of mushrooms again the eggs were poached perfectly. The hash was a great surprise, home made with chunky potato, crispy & crunchy with a sprinkle of sea salt - yum! 😋 We both enjoyed our choices & agreed BE cafe was best done early as our previous attempts (& others feedback) shown they do get busy & they seem to lack the staff to cope as long lines & dirty/unclean tables can make it uninviting.

Delicious food! It was a lil pricey but to be expected. Seating was comfy but awkward. Our table felt like we were in the way of people lining up for food and waiters weaving in and out of the queue to bring food out. While food was good, our drinks (hot choccy and bubbachino) while ordered woth breakfast came out after we finished our meals and didn't align with when the cold drinks came out for the rest of the table. When we asked staff about it, they said they will be on their way, then when they finally came they apologised. If we hadn't have already paid we would have said don't bother. Appreciate it's busy, but you need a bigger space to make coffees if your kitchen can make an entire meal and serve it and allow us to eat it before our hot drinks were ready. Over all, the place is beautiful and the food was yummy and the area is very pretty, so we will reccomend to friends, yes.

The eggplant is charred to smoky perfection, complemented by aromatic herbs and olive oil. Duck: Tender duck confit or crispy duck breast? Either way, it’s a must-try. The rich flavors and crispy skin are divine. House-Made Flat Bread: Warm, pillowy flatbread straight from the oven. Pair it with dips or enjoy it on its own—the choice is yours. We ordered our food and asked to substitute what was on the plate for some potatoes, the waitress told me that she had to check to see if that was possible and came back and said yes they could do that. When we received our food, we got the replacement bowl of potatoes. On leaving I went to pay and was charged $16. I explained to the manager that we just wanted potatoes on the side of the plate not a whole bowl full of potatoes and that the price was not disclosed to myself when we placed the order. The manager was rude and unhelpful, unprofessional, and did not seem to care that the price was not disclosed to us. Warning to the owner, your manager is unprofessional, rude impolite, and unkind and I would highly recommend she needs to up her interpersonal skills or she is clearly in the wrong industry and should not be in the hospitality industry and does not have the personality and people skills to work in a restaurant. Having said that the food, and...
