I looked for a place to get gluten free food for dinner a couple of night ago for a few people after a long day having attended a funeral. Burger Brothers came up with excellent reviews, and not being from Ballarat, thought I would give it a try. This definitely is NOT a place you should try. Firstly I am shocked at the reviews saying how good it is as everyone who ate the food had something to say.. I do not know where to begin. The chicken looked like it had been reheated and was 2 days old. VERY DRY! We asked for it to be cut up into 8 pieces which it was not, so we all got pulled chicken on our plates. It was also a very small chicken and not impressed for the price we paid for it. Most chicken shops sell a larger sized chicken. Then came what I believed to be a MEDIUM serving of peas and carrots was only a very small serving not enough for everyone. Very plain, no salt no flavour. The gravy was tasteless as well. This although was a generous serve. We also ordered a coleslaw. This was absolutely terrible. It was so bitter we had to search in the fridge for some mayonnaise and add salt to bring up the flavour. We are still questioning what was in it to make it so bitter. The cucumber and tomato salad was fresh but once again tasteless. The last item was the Medium size sweet potato fries. This was a very small serving of fries, that tasted nice. The portions of the food were terrible and for $75 an embarrassing meal to be sharing with a group after a funeral. Just because it is gluten free does mean it should be taste free. We will not be coming here again when we...
Read moreWe were under the assumption it was a burger place but upon entering it just seemed like it was a multifood space. It was Pretty average... went in with my boyfriend and mother. I ordered the 1/4 chicken and chips... was given a minuscule amount for $12.50... it was flavourless. My boyfriend ordered the steak sandwich and ill call it that cause it was just a steak sandwich and not a burger.. again said it was pretty average. My mother ordered chips and gravy.
Chips were quite average... not enough salt.
Place is expensive... I understand that people need to pay their staff but are we really charging $1.50 for a pot of sauce? And nearly $4 for a can of coke?
I ended up leaving the piece of chicken they gave me as it was mostly bone and fat.
On the plus side, staff are relatively ok... at this rate I'm not sure if I'd go back... ???
I just feel like it's rather misleading... it's not really a burger...
Read moreThe staff were very friendly and clearly had a good rapport with locals, taking the time to converse with elderly patrons despite experiencing brisk trade. As a person with Celiac disease I often find it difficult to find gluten-free options and am at times made to feel like an inconvenience to businesses in requesting it. Not the case here. Staff were accommodating despite the order getting complicated and confusing and nearly everything on the menu could be made gluten free. Their attitude towards it all assured me that they take gluten-free requirements seriously and I was confident that I would not experience an adverse reaction eating there. Additionally the food was very tasty! So good to be able to eat a burger!...
