A cafe with a name that could easily be mistaken as a laundry service, Clothesline Cafe had gone under new ownership. However, they still provided sheer high-quality food they are always known for. With a new menu, and new decors, this place is absolutely buzzing, especially on a Ballarat Sunday Morning. Once you enter, you'll be amazed with the vast of artwork being displayed around the cafe, which somewhat resembles an art gallery. After we gazed at the menu meticulously, our love for bread was so strong we ordered the following dishes: CRISPY PORK BANH MI - Their take on the Vietnamese classic. This time in a sourdough baguette. You'll be amazed with the amount of pork we were given to the point, I thought I was eating Pumbaa 😅. To counteract the juicy fatty pork, were some picked veges, creamy hoisin mayo and some sriracha for that little karate kick spice to heat up the palate. TOFU BANH MI - For the vegans, yes you can finally get some vegan Banh Mi's in Ballarat. A resemblance to the Pork but with tofu. Clothesline can do Banh Mis to cater anyone 😋 KOREAN CHICKEN BURGER - 🍔 Their take on the popular trend. Lightly coated fried chicken with their sweet chilli sauce and some salad to reduce the guilt. A little bit sweet for my liking but still a very pleasant burger to feast on. Despite the change in ownership, these guys see eye to eye with the precious owner, and that is to serve delicious food. The menu is fairly extensive, and the ability for them to provide beautiful Asian flavours to their menu is something to be commended for. Whether your dining outdoors or indoors, you'll definitely enjoy the atmosphere of this cafe, and the quality of their food will give...

Clothesline cafe is the type of place I wish we had closer to home… Going to Melbourne for an appointment, it was and obvious decision that we detour on the way down to stop at Clothesline for lunch, then the following day, on the trip home, we had to debate whether it’s weird going to Clothesline again for a break. Weird or not we did anyway… We have been here multiple times over the last few months and every time, we are greeted and welcomed in almost like going to a mates house for a cuppa… It’s fitting that the cafe is in beautifully renovated old house as the warmth and mood in there really comes through. The staff have always been friendly and happy and the service is as prompt as you’d need… The food is a different story. It’s a privilege to know the chef personally as this has given me a chance to try his style of food on a few occasions, and every time it’s been exceptional. The menu at Clothesline is fresh and exciting and the chef’s twist on some classics like the eggs Benny are spot on… Today we had the Pork Bahn Mi, and honestly it was quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever eaten…. You could go to many different cafe’s in Ballarat and get some decent, basic food, but why would you when this cafe is serving such high quality food at the same price. Clothesline cafe is a hidden gem in Ballarat and for as long as it’s there, it’ll be our go to place when we come down. Exceptionally...

I am usually happy with my coffee however it comes. But to wait 30min. on a window close to cars with a toddler, wasn't an easy task. We expect a take away coffee take 10min when they are very busy, or even more and coming together with some excuses (if they are good in hospitality) but here when I asked for my money back after 30min., - because of my personal situation of holding a toddler running close to cars - the lady instead said: we are very busy, we run a full restaurant inside. Sorry?? What does the kitchen have to do with the barista making the take away coffee? Sorry me, I don't get it.

And then another person delivered the coffee and said they are too busy. I tried to talk to him, but they were too busy to give attention to the people that make them busy... (to not say about money) ...

So in conclusion I was finally happy to find a nice place in this whole region that I have been traveling outside Melbourne, and I thought at least one place, that looks so nice and cool, would have staff trained in hospitality... but it was a cool place that the people look cool, but they didn't have a B plan for busy days...

Sorry to leave this review, but I wanted to tell you guys, that you are so cool and could be the best coffee shop in town " For Melbournians" but need a B plan...

EDIT: OVER AND ABOVE 5 STARS. Thank you for checking everyone's vaccination certificate, address and proper QR logging in. It's great to find a restaurant taking it so seriously. Finally open, and worth the wait. I feel you can normally judge a cafe by their coffee, and their coffee is very good. I was pleased to see there were vegetarian options available. It's their first week and they've hit the ground running. Lots of staff and all tables full. I expect this place will be busy every weekend. Better than any of its peers - east of Peel st. Worth crossing town for. I'll be a regular, for sure. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed. It's how a cafe should be.
