Drouin Bakery & Cafe — Restaurant in Victoria

I really wanted to leave a great review because the staff here are genuinely lovely super friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. But unfortunately, the banh mi fell far short of what you’d expect from an authentic version.

It felt more like a sandwich in a roll rather than a proper banh mi. They used butter instead of Vietnamese mayo, there was no liver spread, and they even added lettuce, which is definitely not traditional. The carrot wasn’t pickled either, just plain carrot. For someone who regularly enjoys authentic banh mi, this just missed the mark.

The cafe interior also reminded me more of an aged care setting with the blue walls, but I do like that they showcase local artwork for sale that’s a nice touch.

Maybe it passes in an Aussie country town, but for anyone who knows and loves real banh mi, this one was...

This is the best bakery in our area of DROUIN VICTORIA and surrounding areas. We have found that the food here is so fresh and delicious and home made every day that we are now going just for the delicious coffee and the wonderful service and great food and banter with the best staff you can get. I ❤️ this place as do many people, as it is always full of life in and around the bakery for the food and the lovely family who runs it. They love to see their customers, who are fast becoming like family to them and they love to have a joke with you and keep you smiling 😃. If you are passing through and feeling like a break, then do yourself a favour and pop in for a coffee or a wonderful snack and see just how wonderful this little family bakery is, you will be sure to find yourself coming...

I will give my honest opinion, because i have no idea who is honestly giving an honest review here. Travelled in from Melbourne after seeing the 4.5 reviews thought this looks good..DO NOT BE FOOLED. Although the customer service is top the food unfortunately is not. All the heated pies, dim sims potato cakes, all hard and bland. It seems it sat there the whole day. I genuinely am not too picky about bakery food some hit n miss but here everything was a miss, even my little one who loves food could not down it. Apologies but if everyone here thinks this 4.5 you will be amazed when you travel towards Melbourne and try there bakeries....i dont...
