Gippy Fish N Chips — Restaurant in Victoria

Normally, I don’t write reviews, but I felt I had to in this case. My friend and I decided to try Gippy Fish and Chips for lunch. I ordered the lamb souvlaki with added cheese and a pineapple fritter, which came to $19.00. I took the food home — only a five-minute drive — and started eating.

Near the bottom of the lamb souvlaki, I bit into something and immediately gagged. I found a long, dark black hair embedded inside the wrap. I have lighter hair, so I knew it wasn’t mine. The sight alone made me vomit.

Once I felt a bit better, I called the store to let them know, thinking a refund was the least they could offer. The lady on the phone told me to bring the food back in and she’d give me a full refund. I drove all the way back, only for her to inspect the hair and claim it didn’t belong to anyone working there. It clearly matched her black hair, yet she refused to take responsibility.

Instead of a refund, she offered me a measly 15% off voucher — as if I’d ever want to eat there again. Her attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. She made me drive all the way back just to argue and deny fault.

Absolutely disgusting food, completely lacking in hygiene, and the customer service was just as bad. Save your time, money, and stomach — go literally...

Picked up $45 worth of food. Kids meals separately wrapped had a crazy crazy amount of salt, the other food was soft and soggy. Fish, potato cakes and dim sims all no crunch. Disgusting. Then called to speak to someone yo let them know, the woman was rude, demanded we drive back to return food/prove it. I did not want to go back again by this point, told her I'd rather a refund or full replacement another time, not coming back again today. Nope, kept demanding we come back tonight. (Kids bedtime soon, we did not want to.) This shop has gone so far downhill, so hit and miss. What a shame! Used to...

The fish and chips here are ok but geeze the service is absolutely terrible. The people are nice but completely clueless and make zero effort to keep track of their orders. The owners don't pay attention.

They have 9 people in a huge kitchen but don't do basic things like call out names of numbers, they just dump the orders in the beaumare and then when you ask if you order is ready they don't check properly.

Waited an hour between the call and getting the meal and had to ask twice. The kid missed it the first time I asked and no one called out in the first place.
