GV Hotel — Restaurant in Victoria

Unfortunately the food and service today was very poor. I ordered pumpkin/carrot soup and hubby, a steak sandwich. It took 40 minutes to arrive. The waitress put the plates on the table and said over her shoulder as she walked away," sorry for the wait". We just stared at her. The soup was to salty and the bread was burnt. No butter on the bread or on the plate. I tried eating the soup because I had to have something in my stomach as I was feeling unwell. I found the waitress and asked for butter. Her response "Oh yeah I forgot, my bad". By this stage I just wanted to leave. I was hoping the charcoal flavour of the bread wouldn't be so bad if I dunked it in the soup. Didn't work. I left the food and we left. It took to long to get our food in the first place so I wasn't waiting for a replacement meal. Hubby's steak sandwich didn't have a lot of flavour and the Turkish bread was dry. The chips were good. I don't think we will be going back. We can't afford to waste money on subpar food and service, even if it's a simple steak...

Last time we visited and ate at gv hotel few months ago was lovely. We attended the gv hotel this evening and was disappointed. We ordered scotch steak and a spaghetti seafood. I received a seafood basket which looked very dry with very brown overcooked chips. I took this to the counter to explain, the staff member that I received the incorrect meal and the staff member checked the computer for the order, which made me feel awkward, as it felt I had dinner something wrong. No comments was made about the mistake, but they sent my order through again. I was not refunded the difference in the meal cost. My partners steak, which he asked for med/rare, half of it was still running in the paddock and the other part was well gone, burnt chips with a lovely gritty salad on the side. Not well done a meal. Ordered food for the table at 1920, nothing arrived, saw other table order after us and meals served and patrons left before our meals had arrived. Advised bar staff, within 2 minutes, entree garlic bread, kids meal and mains arrived, luke warm, at around 20:15. Tried to order dessert at 20:30, advised kitchen closed, advised meals had arrived late, but no compassion. Addressed the floor manger who stated the kitchen was still open, but did not offer to place our dessert order. Discussed with him that our order had come out late and was not up to standard, also advised that we eat out in Shep a lot and not happy with our service, which he put his hands in the air and said ok!
