Kilmore Fish and Chips — Restaurant in Victoria

I went back here for the second time by request at the end of July 2021. My Mother had her birthday, all she wanted was to go back to Kilmore Fish and Chips for her birthday, nothing else. My Mother has been to a lot of fish and chip shops over the last nine decades in a lot of Australian States, she said that this is the, and I quote “Best Fish and Chips in Australia “, so what else can I say except that I agree.

Menu: Good selection of fresh fish and chips plus other seafood, burgers and salads. There is packs on the menu. We had the barra and it is huge.

Price: For two pieces of fish, minimum chips, pickled onion x 2 and sauce I got change out of $25. The fish was that big that we are one piece of fish between the two of us and had the other the next day.

Service: Extremely nice and polite, easy to talk to and communicate with. They pack your fish very well and it stays hot, I mean hot.

Parking: There is some parking at the back of the shop. When it's not raining and no Covid restrictions, there is a nice park over and just down the street, it would be nice to eat at.

The fish and chips here, we're worth driving from Melbourne to have, but if you are passing through or staying at Kilmore, stop, visit them and I I'm guessing that you will enjoy it as much as we did.

New owners it seems.

I have been going here for almost 10 years 1-2 times a week. In the past month I have been 8 times, and only 1 time they put chicken salt as asked.

The chips in my meal is 1/4 what i was getting before. Plus they have dropped my burger and played it off as nothing happened.

I was sitting waiting for my food they did not call me and it was sitting there getting cold for who knows how long before I thought to go and check as it was way to long.

Such a shame, it was a great place and in the span of a month went so far down hill I won't be going...

Place must have changed hands, the last owners were great. Spend $130 tonight, half order missing, had to go back into town for eight potato cakes which tasted horrible, toasted steak sandwiches were barely toasted and resembling stale soggy bread. Flake was dripping with oil and tasted yuck. Chips were great if that’s your thing, only thing I’d recommend from the menu. Rang to complain to manager and was met with zero communication skills, and zero apology. Old owners of Mother and family combo sorely missed. Do not recommend eating...
