Beware! The worst food I have eaten in a decade, I ordered a medium rare scotch fillet with mushroom sauce on the side, chips and salad, waited 25 minutes to get an overdone dry steak covered in sauce with cold chips and a dead salad the leaves of which were limp and warm. I asked for a refund and said I was leaving after cutting open the dry steak. The âmanagerâ (who ended up being the âchefâ) wanted to argue the point that the chips were not coldâŚ. I invited her to try one - she didnât. I am not sure what planet she was on but I left and will would not touch this place ever again with a barge pole. My expectations were set pretty low going into this joint, I am not fussy but for $32, the quality of this âfoodâ was atrocious, it was an absolute joke. My 10 year old daughter puts together a better meal than this. I will be giving Ouyen a miss in the future and just drive to Mildura or elsewhere for a meal. Ouyen Club, you ought to be embarrassed. If you canât serve food of a 5/10 quality (as opposed to a 1/10 that I received), you should shut your...
Read moreThe club and people of Ouyen are the best people Iâve ever met. Hamish, Jarn and Sam are Ouyen residents I respect. However, the people operating the bistro aspect of this venue ought to be ashamed. My friend smithy waited 1 hour and 45 minutes for 2 spring rolls. My other friend waited 1 hour and a half for a fried rice which was below expectation in portion sizes. As I write this, I am still waiting on some honey prawns that may not ever come. The lanterns and ginger beer have made the experience bearable. I doubt I will ever come back to Ouyen again. When Ouyen declines in economic and tourism value, you can blame the bistro of the Ouyen club.
Sincerely, a disappointed, broken hill/darwin/adelaide university engineering student who has serious doubts about ever returning.
Cheers, ya boi, sports secretary. I have consulted with my other secretary and he has assumed this position on the...
Read moreAfter checking into our budget motel we asked where we could get dinner and were told to try the Ouyen Club. I had the home made spring rolls (2 per serve) which were crispy and delicious, followed by chicken pad thai - a generous serving which was also very tasty. Hubby opted for the Chicken Chowmein and a small serve of special fried rice - he enjoyed the chowmein but said the rice was a bit ordinary. The staff were friendly and efficient and the prices very reasonable - our bill came to about $75 for the 2 of us which included 2 beers...
