Rosedale Bakery — Restaurant in Victoria

Saturday 4th May. 1:25pm. Pretty much what you’d consider lunch time. 3 staff. 2 customers. Pre made sandwiches in the counter, but I really just wanted a salad sandwich, and everything had chicken or ham. In front of me at the counter was a fully stocked sandwich bar. “Could I please have a salad sandwich?” The blonde girl serving pointed to the ready made sandwiches. I said there’s no salad there, can you make me one? She said “the sandwich bar has been closed now “ I said “but everything is here, can’t you do a sandwich?” She said “it’s closed “ I said “what about you just make a sandwich, and then put the stuff away?” She said “No. Can I serve you anything else?” Quite obviously I said no and walked out. In the street outside I chatted to two men eating sandwiches. I told them what just happened. They said “they made sandwiches for us!” Anyway I went across the road to the other store. And guess what? They made me a salad sandwich! I told them what happened and they weren’t at all surprised. They get a lot of that lately they said. I’m 57. I’ve been stopping at Rosedale bakery for nearly all my life, first as a child with my parents on the way between 90 mile beach and Melbourne. Called in to grab a cake pastries and coffee. Paid and went outside. Realised I had been short changed $5 by the young girl that served me. Older woman came over and I explained what happened, she swore at me and asked what's $5 to you. Well obviously it's my money !!! She picked up a $5 note and basically threw it at me. Says to the young girl " See its customers like this " . I was in no way rude to her. Mind you the shop was full, so said it in front of other customers. Shame on you old lady, you need to learn customer service !! If I could give less than one star for service I would. It's a shame because the food is good and we always call in on our way...

Disappointed! I've seen more cheer in a funeral home than what I experienced from the staff today (13/7/19) 1:15pm. It appeared the older women serving had somewhere better to be, which clearly wasn't being at work, even a smile would gave been welcomed. We are a family of 6 and had a relatively large order (Will spend that money elsewhere next time). We wished to use the toilet facilities only to be told we couldn't as they had been cleaned and we're now closed (cleaned and closed at 1.15pm?) We had intended dining in, but this suggestion went down like a lead balloon, leaving us with a feeling that our patronage was more of a hassle. Great food, very...
