Victoria Rose & Tea Room — Restaurant in Victoria

The house and garden are really beautiful but avoid the hot food. Roses of all colours were blooming and the ambience was lovely. However my food was below average. The lunch menu was on a high blackboard with very standard choices. My first choice was unavailable so I ordered Shepherd's Pie and side salad. The Shepherd's Pie was cooked (and frozen?) then reheated in an individual ceramic pot, very hot on the outside but when I tasted the centre it was barely lukewarm. I could have sent it back to be reheated but I didn't want to wait another 20 minutes so I ate some of the cold centre first and finished with the hot outside of the pie. The salad was based on iceberg lettuce plus a little cold pasta, carrot and beetroot swimming...

We visited the Tea room in summer for high tea. Everything was beautifully made, beautifully presented, and most importantly, it was all delicious! I booked using Google which was SO easy, and the response to confirm the booking was very quick. I thoroughly recommend everything in the High Tea. It is perfect for small groups or large. Even though the High Tea was generous and filling, their cakes looked so good and I got a hedgehog to take away for later... it was SO good, with a hint of walnut and topped with thick chocolate ganache! The Tea Room is absolutely recommended. It is easy to book using Google, easy to park on the wide, old town streets, and completely delightful way to spend an afternoon with family...

Yes I’m sorry but I agree with don’t eat the food. We have been there before and liked it but today the service was terrible and the food well below average. The salad was as the previous comment and my husband had the ploughmans platter that was a few pieces of ordinary cheese, cabana, sliced ham, dry biscuits, 3 olives swimming in a bowel of relish, 2 slices of toast, 2 slices of raisin bread (no butter) some salad and awful macaroni.. my mothers meal came out and was a toasted ham and cheese that was meant to have an egg on top and chips to the side.
