Siam Pesto Warragul — Restaurant in Victoria

After reading good reviews, we decided to try Siam Pesto. The decor is very nice and tastefully done.

The place holds about 50 people and it was almost full to capacity. The noise levels were loud. We had to shout to hear ourselves. If you don't like noisy loud restaurants, this is not the place or you.

There were 2 waiters for almost 50 people and completely understaffed.

The food was average. We chose the Ginger Barramundi with vegetables. We were surprised to see boiled McCains crinkle cut vegetables popped on top of the fish.....

The Ginger Barramundi dish had 4 hairs in it which was an unpleasant surprise.

Looking into the kitchen, not one cook had hats, caps or hair nets on. The cooks had unrestrained longer hair swinging around as they worked.

We ordered a meat and salad dish. The salad consisted of a few pieces of lettuce leaves and about 8 tiny cubes of cucumber carefully spaced out to look substantial. There were 10 small strips of meat. A few lettuce leaves and cubes does not make a salad in any way shape or form.

Getting the waitresses attention was almost impossible as they were run of their feet. Sufficient staff to adequately serve would be nice to see.

On leaving we showed the owner the plate with the 4 hairs on it. His reaction was underwhelming and not in the least concerned.

I had very bad experience there when I went to the restaurant with my friends last night. When we asked about their program on the last page of the menu, they just simply said I dont know at first place until we asked her to get information from coworker then only she figured out for us. The others waiters who also work at cashier, she served the drinks by putting it so heavily to our table and even split the soup without apology. Also she just took the glass between my girlfriend and myself when we were in the middle of conversation.

I am so upset about it, which ruined my dinner at Saturday night. Hope the restaurant can sort it out soon so there wont be any other people have the same...

Staff were friendly. Ordering (via phone) for a pickup meal was simple. We paid for our food on arrival. The restaurant was completely empty for 8pm on a Tursday night. On opening the food, it smelled lovely. But some dishes left much to be desired. Two (2) serves of steamed veg were not fresh. They were borderline expired and should have been sold to customers. The worst part of the order. Fish was okay but seemingly overcooked. Texture indicated it was probably from frozen. Curry had beautiful flavour but no chicken to be found. Roti has sweat in the box, so texture not ideal. Probably just due being in a stakeout box. Food really left much to be desired on this occasion...
