I went with a friend of mine on Sunday 13/July/2025 for lunch. We were there about 12.30pm. The place looked great and there was a lovely aroma in the air. My dear friend ordered the Garlic prawns 29.tiger prawns, creamy garlic & onion white wine sauce, served on a bed of rice and I ordered the flathead tails with chips and salad. We were at table 4. Near 35 minutes after I placed the order I had to go and check with the kitchen if our meals were ready. Thankfully they were and about five minutes later they came to the table but the person who was serving said these items were for table 12 which I thought was a bit odd. While we were eating my friend had a piece of my fish and a chip and I had a prawn from her plate with a little rice. The rice was hard and undercooked. With this we also had two glasses of wine which was nice. I was disappointed that a) The items took so long to be served b) When it was served the the wait staff was confused about the table number to which I had to assure him it was in fact the order for table 4. c) The rice was undercooked, this made it hardly edible and most of it was left over. The Commercial has good potential but they do need to pay a little more attention to detail. I would not be ordering rice there again for sure. Overall, somewhat disappointed but...
Read moreUnsure of Hotel Rooms, I was kiling time waiting for my train. A Classic Pub, no question I will be sampling the Menu next visit. A decent glass of house white wine out back on the old school elongated wooden benches and matching tables. Well equipped for Melbournes approaching Autumn/Winter chill alfresco style, inside was clean and well presented, and held an ambience of an awaited and expected Saturday night out for a reasonably priced Chicken Parma and foaming suds with mates. Pokies, cocktail menu, darts etc, it's an excellent example of good old Aussie watering hole, dolled up a bit. I can honestly say, this time-capsule Pub carries a classic feel about it, and even if the modern technology of real time racing and Keno screens were removed, you wouldn't miss them owing to the obvious nostalgia decor. You can hear the train announce its arrivals and departures, so if you get sidetracked and miss your train, just grab another drink, put up the boot souls and soak up the bohemian breeze To be honest, I missed my 2nd train on purpose, it was so comfy and relaxing I didn't want to ruin it by rudely leaving a drink half...
Read moreCome here on a Friday during the buy 1 get 1 free bistro meals. My sister and I both got the surf & turf only to be both dissappinted. My steak was meant to be medium but was cooked well done. The Surf and turf was meant to be topped with a "creamy garlic prawns, mussels and scallop sauce". The sauce was non existent and my steak was soaked in steak juice (meant to be the "creamy garlic") with seafood on top. I asked the waitress politiely if we could please get some more garlic sauce because there was next to none on our steak, and she said she would ask the kitchen and let us know. She then returned to our table, bluntly said "no, you can't" and tried to walk away. I said excuse me because I thought I had misheard her. She turned her head as she was walking back into the kitchen and said I was told to say "no" you can't have anymore and she walked away. She never offered us to be allowed to get more sauce and pay for it, which I would have done if the kitchen staff hadn't been so rude. The waitress needs more training on how to manage complaints properly. What happened to good quality customer service? Won't be...
