The Cambrian has recently had new owners and been reborn as a family friendly hotel. We gave the Cambrian a shot last night and were both pleased and dissapointed.
The Good.... The decor is fresh and clean and the staff pleasant if maybe a bit unsure of themselves yet, maybe a bit more time but thats only a minor thing. My wife went to order a vegetarian lasagna to be told they hadn't had time to make any, then another dish wich was likewise unavailable. The menu is small which I suppose matches the size of the kitchen. Our meals arrived promptly and all 5 of us were very happy with the quality and quantity. I must say that my mushroom sauce (for my rib-eye) was THE tastiest mushroom sauce I have ever eaten...yum !!!
The bill including drinks came to $100 which wasn't to bad.
The Bad.... Garlic bread, charging $6 for 2 pieces of garlic bread was almost enough to make us get up and walk out. We discussed this and couldn't understand why they wouldn't or couldn't give us a big plate full of garlic bread to start off the evening making us ooohh and ahhhh. Instead we sat ther and grumbled as we shared the crumbs !
Overall I would rate the Cambrian as an 7.5/10. I'll definitely go back for another meal in a couple of months but before ordering I will ask about the garlic...
Read moreThere is a lot to like about this venue. We were seated at our table without delay even though we arrived at a busy time. Drink order taken and delivered post haste. Meal order taken in quick time followed by a warning that there could be a wait before we received it. I'm pleasantly surprised that "the wait" is only 25 minutes. I ordered the grilled bream. Two others in our party requested "a small serve of chips" as part of their order. Either the chef serves up small serve of chips to everyone, or our attendant recorded the orders incorrectly. There was no difference in chip size between any of the orders. My order is in the photo. There were less than 20 chips in the serve. The bream was fresh and well presented. Salad disappoints unless you are a lettuce fan. This was a "senior's size" meal. Cost $35.00. As a plus, they...
Read moreAbsolutely freaking awesome. The grain fed porterhouse steak was a 10 out of 10, and the XPA craft beer was out of this world. I never though a beer with a guava undertone would work but I'm sold on it now.
The staff were friendly and attentive, our meals arrived super fast and was cooked perfectly, and even my daughter's kids meal went above and beyond. Her chicken nuggets were shaped like chicken legs. The chips were nothing less than outstanding, with the perfect amount of crispness to the outside while being fluffy in the middle and was seasoned just right.
I would happily recommend the Cambrian to anyone. I am definitely going back there again as...
