The better half and I ate here two nights in a row. First night's meals were pork belly bao buns, steamed dumplings, and 400g porterhouse. My steak was cooked spot on they way I liked it. Nice flavour. The better half said her dumplings were yummo, and boa buns were pretty good. Second night's meals were bao buns again and some spicy wings. The mains were s&p calamari and hoisin beef. My calamari was a bit of a letdown as I did not expect it to be crumbed in a stir fry. Sorry that doesn't go down well as it starts to get soggy. I couldn't finish it. A bit of a bugga. The better half liked her hoisin beef. She had it for lunch the next day, what was left over and said it tasted even better. Staff were friendly, a shout out to Mitch, he was super helpful. The place is busy and a little loud. The beer was cold. 8/10 We will go back if we are in the area.

In Ballarat for the day to meet some friends up from Melbourne. This was 450m from where they were staying and what a find! Has absolutely everything and more; TAB sports bar area, x2 outdoor smoking areas and a lovely outdoor eating area, x2 dining section that we saw and a kids playground with easy access from one of the separate dining areas. All adjoining the stunning bar where you first enter. The place has beautiful furnishings and a very warm and welcoming feel, the staff were professional and lovely too! To top it all off the food was absolutely amazing and the menu has loaaaads of options. Overall a top visit, will definitely recommend and is more than deserving of the 5 🌟s

We regularly visit the Red Lion. They have an excellent venue, the staff are great. They have a wide range to select form the menu and the food comes out, presentation of the food is always beautiful and often makes you say "WOW". The problem arises only when you get the first bite of the food, the taste/ flavour almost never stands upt to the presentation or the price. Last time I was there, i had the pork from their winter menu. The meat was dry and a struggle to finish it. This is unfortunately not the first time it has occured.

Stopped past for lunch at 1PM after hearing great reviews from friends and family, expected a wait which was not a problem and we were fortunate enough that management was able to slot us into a table even without a reservation however that was the end of any form of customer service. Ordered 2 sides and a bowl of chips and was rudely spoken to by the man behind the bar who acted like we were inconveniencing him by ordering, when our table who ordered after us all received their meals we waited thinking the meals were coming, however as everyone neared the end of their meals we realised this was not the case - after asking where our food was we were told they didn’t know what we were talking about and said they couldn’t locate our order in the system until they magically could, then rather than apologising blamed the issue on a register malfunction. Thirty minutes later food still was not out, requested a refund which then seemed like a hassle to them too, after coming back from checking with the kitchen where our order is and being told “it’s coming soon” we were then read the wrong order entirely, it was not a busy lunch and I usually would sympathise with hospitality workers having been in their shoes before but the lack of apologies and ownership for the mistake was a joke. Headache of an experience would...

POOR QUALITY FOOD AND POOR SERVICE IN RESPONSE. On our last 3 visits we have sent food back to the kitchen. First it was a parma with extremely chewy and weird tasting chicken. Once sent back, staff admitted that they had been having trouble with their chicken schnitzels lately. On the second visit we ordered steak. 2 medium and 1 medium rare. The two mediums were significantly overcooked. The medium rare was cold (the garlic butter on top was solid and not melting). Upon notifying staff, the same medium rare steak that had already been cut into was put back on the grill and served back to us now overcooked. On our third visit the medium rare steak came out cold again. We were told by our waiter that it was not cold as he tested it with a thermometer. He said it is not possible to cook a medium rare steak that was any warmer. Instead if we wanted it hotter it would need to be closer to medium. Upon returning it was well done. When the waitress came to the table to collect plates, one of us said that the steak wouldn't be eaten as it was now well done. The response we recieved was 'oh okay' and then she left with the plate. We will not be returning to this venue. I believe in second chances but this is unacceptable. Please source quality food and hire a chef that knows how to...

It started like any other day I went out for lunch with my mum and her partner, we haven't been to the red lion often but this trip had to be the worse, after being seated at a table we soon made our orders and our drinks, well after a 45 minute ticket time to get our food in a venue with about 3 other groups seated, after we get our food we find that chips are cold, bacon is cold and have given me a completely different dish,

I had ordered a chicken parmigiana and they have server me a Kiev, the waiter was kind and patient and offered to get me my parmigiana, and not wanting to wait another near hour for the correct item I ordered I settled with the keiv and offered no other sort of compensation, so after that I decided to go up and get another drink. I took a solid mintue for another bartender that was doing his job and making drinks to alert the other worker that was chatting with another co worker to actually come do what she is paid for.

TL;DR I will not be coming back here untill their workers learn to...
