I did not like the restaurant. The food service and atmosphere were the factors for the bad review. When you enter the restaurant, there is this sudden smell that comes from the hsp they make. The smell is really unpleasant for you to stay inside. There were flies when we were eating, which was an unpleasant experience. The staff didn't care to explain much about the food. The main thing was food. The food was not good at all. The flavour was out of place. I didn't enjoy the food at all. The food was expensive and the portions were really small. I will put the picture of tandoori chicken, which we ordered for $22, but they literally gave us 4 small pieces of chicken with mo flavour. I understand its starter but either decrease the price and increase the quality and quantity of food if you take that charge. The same goes for other starters. Curries were also not so tasty. And masala tea had too much sugar and far less milk. It's not the authentic tea I would like to drink. Overall, the experience was really bad, and there is not much choice of food in the...
Read moreAmazed at the positive reviews for this place as our experience was dire! It tastes like Indian food made by, not very knowledgeable, non-Indian people. I've lived in India and go to many great Indian restaurants in Melbourne so I know what's achievable if you care about the quality of food you're producing. To detail what we had: Coconut Vegetable Curry was oddly sweet and bland, with vegetables from a frozen packet, I'd guess, certainly not fresh. The Aloo Baignan was greasy and spicy but with no complexity of flavour - as if they'd just thrown some chili powder in it. The Garlic Naan had no garlic in it and, again, was oddly sweet. If this were my restaurant I would not be proud of the food I was offering to my customers - and wouldn't expect many to return. I was not surprised to see a 'For Sale' sign on the window outside and hope that whoever takes over this site next...
Read moreIndian restaurant in Castlemaine but they also serve things like HSP - great variety of all. Had heaps of vegetarian options, spicy and non spicy options, sides, curries, chips and other fried foods, etc!
I had the Coconut Fish ($24) which had such great flavours- flavours of the curry was such a highlight. Blue grenadier in turmeric, mustard seed & coconut milk curry - would happily eat multiple bowls of this curry, not spicy at all but so flavourful and smooth and when mixed with the rice- absolutely delicious. Only thing is I found the fish to be a little over cooked so not as soft as I’d like.
Also tried the pani puri ($14) which was my first time and absolutely loved it! Was tangy and sweet and the hallow pastry was so crispy and overall such an amazing mouthful! Would definitely get this again.
Positive reviews across the table so the other dishes seemed...
