Conflicted on how to review the Turret as I've had 1 good experience & another that was not so good. My first time there I had breakfast, which was good. I got "The Turret" & it was very good. it features a poached egg, potato rosti, mushrooms, sautĂ©ed spinach, chorizo sausage & tomato. It was nice & the coffee was nice too. I came back a few days later, this time earlier in the morning for a loaf of bread & a coffee. I saw that they sell their own loaves, and the toast the customers got served on my first visit looked nice, so I figured I'd get a loaf myself. I walked in the doors & was greeted by a man steaming milk, he asked how I was & if I'm looking for something to take away. I exchanged greetings with him & said yes I'd like a couple things to take a way. A woman (young adult ,dirty blonde), asked what I wanted in not an entirely rude way, but a very disinterested/ slightly agitated way that made me question why she didn't seem happy with me. I told her what I'd like & she got it promptly. I'm not the type to make a big deal about a server not smiling all the time because I know it isn't easy to be jovial & friendly for multiple hours early in the morning, but I truly feel like she was agitated & deliberately gave me a frustrated tone with a slight frustrated expression so I'd know that she didn't want to engage with me. I've been served by people I went to high school with & didn't get along with at all that've given fewer inclinations to their dislike of me. Regardless, I said thanks & smiled, she never responded or smiled, she handed me my goods & as soon as I had them in my hands she turned away. Not in a rush to get to something else though, she just disengaged. Maybe I'm taking this more personally than I should, but if you don't like customer service, maybe don't put yourself in a position where that's all you do. The feller steaming milk has been nice to me both times I've been. Though he didn't seem to notice how short the woman was with me, so maybe she's like that all the time. I've been to plenty of cafes that've had stellar service, so I'm not sure why that lady's shortcomings are exclusive to her. The owner also replies to many low reviews by gloating about the daily volume of meals served & great reviews, with out acknowledging the criticism, and always defers to the âyou may harm a small businiess with this reviewâ. Food- Good. Service- Depends on the person? Atmosphere- It's a nice cafe, presentation, cleanliness, no...
Read moreI genuinely know this is one of those meals I'll be dreaming about for a long time. I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu - it was honestly that good!
I'm the type of girl who usually has bacon, pulled pork, toast or hollandaise on my plate if I go out for brunch (as you may see from my reviews), but I knew I couldn't go past trying this dish after seeing this posted by the new owners of the Turret Cafe cafe! And my goodness, it was a GAME CHANGER!
The service from the staff was warm and welcoming, just like the environment. It was also super amazing to hear from one of the owners himself - LeRoy, who came over to our table to check if everything was okay, and talked about how he came up with this dish - this to me was just the best! Thank you for an amazing meal and experience (especially by the warm, cosy fire)! đ€©
The rest of the menu looked absolutely amazing and you can just tell they truly care about their customers and the quality of the ingredients that they use!
I had the:
The "Farmers Garden" đ Roast pumpkin, beetroot hummus, zucchini and corn fritter, wild rocket, overnight tomato, smashed avocado, Meredith Goats Cheese & poached egg with seeds & flowers.
Highly recommend paying these guys a visit! Can't wait to come back...
Read moreWell where do I start⊠Firstly, The Turrett Cafe Catering is by far the best restaurant/cafe that myself and my fiancée have ever been to hands down. The food was excellent and I would easily score those dishes a 10/10.
The staff there are absolutely amazing, very friendly and courteous, and very knowledgeable about everything that they do there..especially explaining each and every detail about what you are about to enjoy. Lastly, to âALLâ the staffâŠyour service is impeccable and Very professional .
The Front of the House LeRoy Hand is not only an old friend of mine going back 32 years but he is the reason why this cafe is so special. They call him Gordon Ramsey âWith a Smileâ for a damn good reason!! When you go there and you are greeted by him youâll know what Iâm talking about. Was a pleasure going there for dinner last night and again for breakfast this morning. 10/10 guys!! We will see you again...
