Ok....let me start by saying...my first coffee in the morning is really important to me...usually taken at the start of my morning walk. So...I was excited to be dropped off right next to 96express this morning (a very very busy Saturday morning in the cafe). Very friendly staff, frustrating process of shouting out customer names when coffee is ready. Works when everyone is inside (too small to do so) but not when it's busy, music is loud and most people are lounging (very comfortably I'd add...which is nice) outside. So I was greeted by a very friendly staff member who took my order of a large skim latte. Name please......Yvette......ok $5 please....hum....50cents dearer than almost any city cafes I use....but hang in there Yvette.....gave her the money and she asked again.....can I have your name again please.....yes...,it's Yvette...Y V E T T E....yes I spelt it out. Fine. I wait inside and watch people come and go for around 20 minutes......then I move to make eye contact with the two ....very efficient I may say.....baristas. Eventually the guy asks me my name ......Yvette......oh right.....we thought it was Evan....that's yours there!! Not impressed guys.....said name twice, spelt it out.....do I look like an Evan....hum....short hair. Maybe....but the sparkly earrings and two fairly obvious bumps at the front of my singlet would say otherwise. Would have been nice to be offered another coffee as the one for 'Evan' had been there around 10 minutes. Dissappointed......friendly staff, good coffee (not the best in Perth as they claim...,in my opinion only), no prices on food or drinks board (real pet gripe....don't want any shocks when paying please). I always try to support and encourage local businesses. Never write such long reviews....but like to try to be honest. Not sure I'll go back....which is unfortunate....but would suggest you look at your ordering processes for the busier mornings.....some coffees hung around a while as people couldn't hear their names called out. So.....I'll end by saying.....long review.....but remember.....my first coffee in the morning is really important...
Read moreWent in today for my daily coffee and smoothie bowl and noticed how the manager was treating their staff, the cafe was super busy and the girls were managing as best as they could all while the boss sat on the side and was being extremely rude and nasty to her staff without doing anything to help them. For such a small cafe that gets a lot of foot traffic, it was extremely disheartening to see the way in which they were being treated. Overheard the manager talking down on one of the other girls to a coworker and it was extremely unprofessional. After seeing this poor display of professionalism I am put off wanting to come back to this cafe, which is disappointing as I know all the girls work their absolute hardest in such a busy environment. Good food and coffee is great but I do not support a business that does not support its staff, they are the backbone of...
Read moreI finally bit the bullet a few weeks back and tried the coffee at 96, I am yet to be disappointed by the staff or coffee.
I have been a few times now and each is the same: great service, amazing coffee and nothing is ever too much to ask of the staff.
No idea what some of the other reviews are on about. I can't fault the coffee, ambience or the staff. Coffee was made perfectly every time and only $7 for a grande caramel latte with soy is pretty decent, I've paid $9 elsewhere at other local establishments that burnt it (multiple times might I add, is soy milk tricky to work with or something?).
Staff were bright, bubbly, efficient and all too happy to accommodate any requests, even cleaning up a spill when I knocked my coffee over trying to juggle everything insert facepalm.
I will be back.
Thanks again for brightening...
