I don't make a habit of disrespecting people or things but I am going to make an exception. The first thing I need to say about this accommodation is that they should pay you to stay there. It is appalling. The bathroom has an overwhelming mouldy smell which of course is due to the fact that the ceiling is very mouldy and very unhealthy I might add! The kitchenette comes with a leaking and rusty fridge. There are hotplates to cook on. .. Also rusty. The smoke alarm. .. oh wait, there Isn't one, just a bad reminder of what maybe was one at some time previously. Now in Western Australia a motel/hotel comes under the Building Code of Australia (BCA) class 2 which stipulates it is mandatory law to install smoke alarms for obvious reasons. The carpet is reminiscent of "sticky pub carpet" I'm sure it's never been cleaned. In general the place is old and the owners have made small feeble attempts to make it look ok. .. They didn't fool me. The one, yes only one, positive thing I can say about the room is that the sheets were clean and fresh and the bed is comfortable. There is a TV but it is so tiny it is hardly worth bothering. 47cms (diagonally) to be exact. You certainly could not watch anything with subtitles on this TV. OK so you're probably wondering why we even stayed. It didn't look like this on the website ( they fooled me that time) and it is right near the ocean. The name does not lie, if you happen to be in the right room, you can see the ocean. The surrounding area is beautiful. High end homes and lovely cafès (Tropico is the best! ) The scenery and proximity to Sorrento Quay is very nice. Western Australia is often referred to as the Sunset Coast and not just because it is in the west. We have AMAZING sunsets! Ask anyone who lives here. So if you are looking to stay in this area look around but whatever you do, don't stay here! If you do, don't say I...
Read moreWe had a 3 night stay recently. We give an overall rating of 3/5.
The Motel is in a great location and our room had a great ocean view. The room was affordable and offered kitchenette facilities. Crockery, cutlery, kettle, microwave, tea, coffee and mini milks. The bathroom offers mini soaps but we brought our own bodywash and shampoo. The shower was a bit hit a miss with water pressure and heat. One moment it would be scorching hot and the next cold. Finding the balance was a bit tricky.
The room itself was very dated with damaged cabinetry but was very, very clean. It seems to have had semi-recent paintwork done and the carpet floor tiles seemed to be quite new also. There was no dust or overly noticeable marks on the walls.
There is a smart TV which is automatically connected to wifi, but would cug in and out and we were unable to stream. We were however very happy with being able to access free to air tv.
The double bed was comfortable but very creaky. We woke every time we moved in our sleep, due to the bed being quite rickety. The bedding was clean but the quilt was also very old and well used where the wool had all gathered in some areas and made for a lumpy blanket. The beds and bedding could certainly do with an update.
Parking is tight and if arriving back to our room in the evenings we may not have been able to get parking within the complex and would have to park on the road.
The complex itself was quiet with respectful patrons and what seemed to have a few permanent residents.
If we were in the area again we probably would consider staying again...
Read morePicked Ocean View for price & location. I had read reviews & a lot were accurate, Clean but maybe in need of a bit TLC here & there. Ocean View is a smallish family run Hotel very friendly both my wife & me enjoyed 16 nights here on a visit from the UK. we had room 20 which was on the 1st floor & only a flight of stairs to get to it no lifts, I am not the best with my old knees but it was not a problem for me. The rooms are cleaned every day & towells changed as you want them always good water pressure & warm when showered. We had a shower over bath & maybe the bath was a bit high for getting into for us older folk but managed .Lovely comfy bed, full size fridge toaster & kettle so not a lot of cooking facilities but cereal & toast in the morning did us & if you want a cooked breakfast lovely bakery with cafe not a hundred yards away & plenty of restaurents & bars near at hand. plenty wardrobe & cupboard space but wife complained could have done with a set of drawers being as we were there a while .We had a sea view balcony with a couple of chairs & table great for sitting having my cigar & watching the sun go down. All in we had a great stay in a good size clean room but in need of a little TLC on the outside of building. Parking sometimes a little tight but room on the front of Motel if it was busy. The location of the Motel is lovely near beach & on Westcoast drive amongst lots of lovely Millionaire Houses. Thanks to Vel & his Family for...
