Not a pleasant dining experience. We came in a few minutes early for our dinner booking and were the first customers in the restaurant (formerly Zephyr’s). No actual table was reserved for us and we were told to just sit anywhere we wish to. So we did….right at a corner which had 2 joined tables (sits 4). After settling in, we were told “Not there.” and to move to a 2 seater table instead. Defeats the purpose of calling in to precisely book a table, rock up to the restaurant and be told to just pick any table only to be asked to move to a different table from the one you chose.
Food overall was average. The menu - we find to be all over the place and not of an authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Overpriced as well. The décor (except for the signage) seems to be exactly the same as the previous Zephyr restaurant…even the tables and chairs.
$5 for a homemade lemon lime bitters on a 200ml glass that was half-filled with ice-cubes.
The state of the toilet was less than impressive with dirty and wet floor and no hand wash.
The clincher for us was being charged .50cents for a takeaway container! Considering we had a sit-down dinner for 2 and paid a bill of about $100.
Suffice to say we are not coming back. Will...
Read moreWell, how unfortunate it was that my partner and I chose this restaurant. We had a booking for 6pm and arrived on time. We were seated and ordered a bottle of wine. We then proceeded to wait for 40mins to place our order and this was after having to enter the restaurant twice to ask to order our food. Meanwhile after asking twice for service this still did not occur. We then had to order takeaway at 7pm as we had enough of waiting and just wanted to leave. After waiting for another half an hour for the takeaway food we had enough and decided to leave. I will mention that EVERY table around us was served and received food in a timely manner. There was another table of two near us that had the same experience; however, got up and just left after about half an hour of waiting. We entered the restaurant to pay for our wine and complain about the lack of service and the Asian waitress suddenly could not understand English. This was the worst experience at a restaurant that I have ever had and I will...
Read moreCame with Group, dined in the alfresco however it was incredibly irritating to have two lots of music playing one from the venue and the other immediately from the pizza shop next door. Doof doof music on one side and piano on the other. We don’t mind either, but not both at the same time. The food was acceptable and enjoyable, but nothing spectacular, we may or may not have another visit. If by chance we do visit again, we will not sit outside. Service was a little lite, taking a long period of time for empties to be cleared. Best feature is the venue is local and convenient. Vietnamese is an unreasonable description. It is more of an Asian fusion, some Thai, some Chinese, some Vietnamese. None of it executed extremely well, nothing wowed us I am sorry to say. I noticed that plenty of other people give great reviews, maybe we visited on a bad night? Maybe less styles done better could be the key. We’ll keep an eye open to see if the menu is updated in the future and perhaps have another...
