We decided last minute to go out for dinner to celebrate my daughter's achievement and we thought of going to another regular restaurant that we always have been for dinner however, my son suggested to try something new. So we ended up at Darbar. First thing first, we were immediately seated at a very comfortable spot and then despite being busy ( which is not a common sight on a weekday) our order was taken by the owner himself. The best part was the owner not trying to over sell which goes to show how he respects the food and doesn't wants it to go to waste . Based on our family size he recommended a few things and was honest enough to say that it would be plenty. Had a quick chat to him and found out how much passionate he is to serve the food and how he takes pride in his prepared dishes . Food was prepared in a reasonable time . Now this is the best part. The wait staff was extremely polite showing similar values of what the owner believes in. Our food was amazing we ordered the platter for 3 , chicken karahi , chicken wings and naan along with the usual condiments.
The food was to die for. It was so delicious and authentic that I can now safely say it's one of the best restaurants in Authentic Pakistani, Afghani food Hygiene standards were at par with any 5 star hotels. Not a speck of dirt, the glasses , dishes and cutlery were squeaky clean . The price is very reasonable.
I have to be honest, this restaurant is now the leading restaurant in Perth and I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to try authentic traditional food with a factor of brilliant customer service.
I felt like I was a guest at a very hospitable host place. Not a $$$ sign walking in the door.
Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Hygiene 10/10 Prices very reasonable Owner commitment to deliver best food: well go check it out yourself. I would say 100%
Thanks for an amazing experience and giving me my now fav...
Read moreI come to this restaurant pretty frequently and the service and food are usually good however today I was really disappointed in the staff’s service and attitude. We called at exactly 5:36 to book a booth around 8:30. The person forgot to write our name and when we arrived the booths were given to people without bookings.
The server tried to convince us to sit somewhere else making excuses such as those people were eating and had kids however I had to tell her this is not our problem as we had booked and they should communicated properly with each other.
They should have admitted fault and seated us instead of tried to tell us we should sit somewhere else.
Hopefully you can train ur staff on how to take bookings for a restaurant properly so they don’t make dumb mistakes like this and expect us to sit somehwere else because of their carelessness.
We will not be returning here which is disappointing as the food is good but the type of service can make or break someone’s experience.
EDIT: I appreciate your response however I don’t agree as we arrived at 8:32 and on the phone we said the latest we’d arrive was 8:30 so this is a negligible difference. Your staff should have put a reserved sign on the booth like isn’t that obvious?
My point stands, it was not our problem that the family was dining as they did not have a booking and we did so we should NOT have to sit somewhere else for your staffs errors. My entire family were regular patrons here but none of us will...
Read moreNo complaints at all about the food — it’s absolutely delicious, no doubt about that. You guys really know how to cook!
But here’s the thing — we’ve spent over $350 on food, and not just once. We’re kind of regulars at this point. On our recent visit, we were asked to pay $1 per small takeaway container. Okay, fine, but those containers were so tiny they couldn’t even fit all the leftovers. To pack everything, we’d have to buy a few more, which would’ve cost almost $10 just for containers. This adds up fast just to take home what we already paid for.
When we asked for a bigger one, we were told it would be $5 for an aluminum foil tray — the same kind that sells for about $1.50 for a twin pack at any grocery store. After explaining ourselves, we were finally told, “This time it’s free, but next time it won’t be.”
Honestly, that made us think twice about coming back. Either we bring our own containers next time (which is kind of ridiculous) or just look for another restaurant with better service.
It’s a bit disappointing that after spending nearly $400, we were made to argue over containers that probably cost less than a dollar in bulk. Great food, but not-so-great...
