We chose this as our first restaurant to experience following the restrictions being lifted after Covid19 and it was worth every little tasty morsel. This is by far the best Italian in Perth and we loved the authentic tapas style of dining. The service is amazing (generally greeted by the smiling and friendly owner), the crew are knowledgeable and happy to offer suggestions if you are not familiar with tapas style dining. They handled the restrictions extremely well. I wanted to keep how good it is a secret but I feel it would be an injustice to all the foodies out there. There wasn’t a crumb left on any of our plates. The waitress and barman (for those non drinkers out there the free falling mocktail is Divine!) were also super friendly plus the service was immaculate and quick. The crew as a team seemed to work well together always keeping an eye out to ensure service standards were kept high. The cider porchetta for savoury and the pannacotta for dessert are my personal faves (so many compliments to the chef on all dishes though!) but my husband couldn’t choose a fave, he simply noted he was glad the restaurant was so close to where we live so we can make visits more often! For the quality of food I believe it to be well priced and the servings are just right for tapas. Perhaps some will see it as on the expensive side but this is not your average Italian, it’s a home cooked style - perfected family recipe - lots of care and explosion of flavours type of Italian and I believe you’ll find it worth every penny and more. Read moreWe have eaten here many times, and every time has been a 5 star experience. So a bit sad to rate 2 stars tonight. I understand in the current covid environment, staff may be off sick. But we had to wait a very long time for 3 meals tonight. And 1 meal came out 15 minutes before the other 2 meals. The other 2 meals must have been sitting waiting to be brought out because they were not hot anymore. Just a bit of an annoying dynamic when one person is eating in front of the others while are waiting hungrily. Flavour was still there, but on a cold night - a nice hot feed was what we were chasing. The other disappointment tonight was the bug in the Parmesan cheese shaker, which was swapped out by the lovely server when mentioned, but still the last thing you want to see when you’re about to eat…
It won’t stop us from coming back altogether, but just thought the feedback was important for the owner for coaching purposes.
Edit after owner response: Thank you for the response, can’t argue with CCTV. I guess it just feels longer when you are sitting there with eager stomachs haha. More than happy to stand corrected on that! :)
Just to reiterate, the customer service was impeccable as usual, no gripes with anyone serving. Was more just around the meals at different times and the bug setting off our appetites a little. Read moreWe had finished playing music at The Guildford (7pm) and decided to get something to eat as we were famished. We were able to get a table seeing as though we hadn’t booked, ordered a couple of delicious red wines and both of us had spaghetti marinara. It wasn’t the best that we have had but nonetheless we were hungry. Went to pay and the friendly staff member that greeted us kindly asked , “how was everything “, so we answered her question. We felt that the meal was too salty and lacked spice. We were happy to pay for what we had and go ( not looking for a discount at all), however the employee showed empathy and decided she would talk to management/supervisor to see what could be arranged. We encountered a rude and blunt manager ( I think). She said “ well I just cleared your table and you’ve clearly finished your meals” ( which at that stage we reiterated that we were asked how our meals were and we were simply giving our feedback). The manger then spoke to the employee explaining that nothing could be done. We paid the bill and left and we will never be back!! We have worked in hospitality for a long time ourselves and this certainly could have been dealt with in a totally different manner which would/could have resulted in us returning.
