I was so looking forward to a nice meal at this restaurant. I booked in for a family dinner. Spoke to a guy on the Friday around 5pm ( there opening time) .The booking was for 14 adults and 5 children. The guy said he would get someone to call me back, as he said it that someone must of came in, and he asked him about my booking. Been a large group he was told to tell me it would have to be a banquette, I asked for the price and he told me $48 per head. I asked the cost for children and he said children are free. I told him I would call back to confirm which I did. Ended up being 9 adults and 5 children. We all arrived and I let the girl know we are ready to eat , I asked what the children would get to eat. The girl said it is a large banquette there would be enough for the children. Not long after a waiter came to our table and asked if we wanted to see the children's menu. I said that they eat free and he said he never said that. I said when I booked I was told kids eat free. He said he never said that, I replied that the guy who booked us in said that. He said it was his writing in the book and he never told me that. He only new that he booked me in because it was his writing, so he obviously did not remember the conversation. Anyway he was pretty rude. He asked if we wanted to order for the kids. My reply was the kids need to eat so suppose we have to. He said well you can just leave. So we did. There was no sorry for the misunderstanding, his attitude was aggressive. When I thought about it afterwards I think I was talking to someone else, with the original booking, like maybe a cook that answered the phone until he came in. I will probably never know. We did enjoy a meal at the guildford hotel instead where the staff were amazing. Such a shame he made it a big deal and thought that I had lied to get the children free. I just thought it...
Read moreWent to the restaurant with my wife and a friend our experience was one that lacked service & customer empathy. If you have ever walked into a business to talk to someone and the phone rings and they say hang on I'l just take this call While you're standing there in front of them You will appreciate where this is going. We sat down with some BYO Usually a waitress will come over and ask do you need wine or beer glasses etc This Did Not happen. We sat there patiently waiting while 3 Uber drivers walked in over the next 10 minutes to pick up Uber eats and the phone rang constantly with more bookings and phone orders. We almost rang the restaurant whilst sitting in it to get her attention, and then we almost got up and walked as we were getting agitated by the Lack of Service for customers sitting in the restaurant. Food was 3.5 stars Not the Best we have had for the price, and the service 2 stars. We noticed on the serviette napkins the restaurant won awards from 2010 to 2014 we wondered if the restaurant had changes hands after that? Like Many restaurants/business Limited Training has been given to staff to enable them to be aware the customers pay their wages. When the customers Stop coming in So do the wages. Read moreSo disappointed and I’m still in shock from the conversation I had with a male staff member this evening. After a busy week we thought we would treat ourselves to a long awaited meal from The King & I. We used to go there often and order takeaway, it this time went through Uber Eats for convenience. Our order was delivered with one of the dishes missing (vegetarian red curry). I’m vegetarian and the other dishes had meat. We were also surprised at the size of the massaman beef curry, which arrived in a small container. Most of what we ordered was also cold and had little flavour. Yes, I was able to arrange a refund through Uber eats but wanted to let the restaurant know our feedback - especially as all I could eat was the steamed rice and vegetarian spring rolls. After calling 4 times, my call was eventually answered by a male staff member. I politely gave him my feedback so that they had visibility of letting down a regular customer. Instead of an apology I was told to request a refund from Uber Eats and to not come back! Unbelievable, especially as I was being quite reasonable and polite about it all. Well, I definitely won’t be...
