We recently had our wedding at the Guildford Hotel, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. From start to finish, everything was seamless, beautiful, and so well executed.
First and foremost, the venue itself is stunning. It’s a beautiful heritage hotel with so much character – exposed brick, high ceilings, vintage charm – and it required minimal decoration. This was a huge bonus for us as it saved both time and money, while still looking absolutely magical in photos. The entire space provided countless perfect backdrops for both candid and professional shots.
But what truly set the Guildford Hotel apart was the exceptional service, especially from the event coordinator, Summer and the manager, Aaron. Their communication in the lead-up was phenomenal – they called multiple times in the week of the wedding, met with me regularly, and always responded with a "yes" to every request I had. Their willingness to accommodate our ideas (including having our dogs be part of the ceremony!) made the day feel completely personal and stress-free.
The food was also an absolute standout. We spent around $4,000 on food, and it was worth every cent. We were able to mix and match different catering options – canapés for cocktail hour and a sit-down smoked meats feast for dinner – and our guests are still raving about the quality and flavour. Their drink options were equally well-priced, and we had so much flexibility with our choices.
Another huge advantage was the cost structure. The Guildford Hotel doesn't charge a venue hire fee – instead, they work on a minimum spend which was very reasonable, and this alone saved us thousands. Thanks to this pricing model, and the affordability of their food and drink, we were able to have a truly beautiful wedding under $15,000, which I never thought possible.
We also held both our ceremony and reception there. After the ceremony, the team flipped the room in under an hour while we and our guests were ushered to a private upstairs bar that had been reserved just for us. It was smooth, professional, and the room looked incredible once we returned.
If you’re looking for a venue that’s beautiful, affordable, and backed by a team who genuinely cares, the Guildford Hotel is it. Choosing this venue was hands-down the best decision we made for...
Read moreOur recent experience was a great disappointment. As a former Perth resident, I had visited the Guilford Hotel previously, and was amazed at the innovative resurrection of the building, and told my wife that the next time we travelled to Perth from interstate that a meal at the Guildford was a must. So, we arrive, order our meals, and the entrée arrive in good time and was enjoyed by all. A good start. Then the mains began to arrive, first one, then after a delay, another appears, then a further delay and another 2 arrive, leaving the meal my wife ordered still to come. After waiting for even more minutes we inquired with the wait staff, and were told they would check. Still no meal, so we checked at the bar where we ordered, and she said that she would check with the kitchen. More waiting and no meal, so my wife and I checked at the bar once again, and were told that there had been a mix-up, and someone else had been given my wife's meal, and another would arrive shortly. It didn't, and by the time it did finally arrive after over 30 minutes my two grandkids had finished their meal, and after such a long delay I wasn't much in the mood for eating, and neither was my wife. They were asked to put the meal in a box, which they did, and it looked like it had just been thrown in with contempt, and did not have the complete sides that were indicated on the menu. There was a discussion as to why items were not included, and was told that only certain dishes had the sides indicated on the menu. This was not at all clear when reading the menu, even upon review. Having 2 dried lamb kebabs with a container of dip thrown in did not constitute a main meal. My wife, being a former chef, was appalled, subsequently refused the meal and demanded a refund, which after some gnashing of teeth, was finally given. We left the Hotel disgusted. After waiting years to get back to Perth and take my family to the Guildford, the experience that I had built up for so long, this was very much a disappointment. I would like to recommend the place because of its uniqueness, but after this experience neither I or any of my family that live locally...
Read moreBeen here twice, first with my colleagues for team lunch and then the 2nd time with my family for the Easter and I enjoyed both visits. I find the food was decent and delicious. Service was great and the 'hotel' (or not Lol) has a very good vibe and atmosphere.
For my team lunch, I had fish and chips and shared the mac&cheese croquettes with one colleague. The f&c was nice and good portion and the croquettes...mmm just delish!!! I love croquettes so I'm probably a bit biased 😉 All my other colleagues' food also looked decent and they seemed to enjoy the food.
For my family lunch, we actually struggled to find a place to eat during the Easter period because everywhere else was so packed or closed and we just finished playing supagolf and were feeling extremely HANGRY! 😁😁 and we're so pleased when we found out that The Guildford Hotel was open AND they also had Easter bunny! The place was also packed but they had extra seatings upstairs and we didn't wait too long for the food. I had fish and chips again and as most of us cos again, we're feeling HANGRY so we just wanted sth easy. One of us had the smoked pork ribs and WOW...it looked AMAZING!!! Instantly I regretted not looking at the menu properly cos otherwise I'd have ordered it! ☹️ I did try a bit and the smokiness was beautiful! Ah well next time for sure. We also ordered one of the special 18+ only Easter tiramisu. Again I tried one scoop and I liked it. I didn't mind the raisins, but my relative said it's weird to have raisins in tiramisu 😁 but it's not a disaster, they still enjoyed it.
So overall this is a great place to eat. Btw I thought it's still a hotel, but...
