Visited again on Saturday. Regretting it now. Only one other table had people on when we entered at 5:50. We ordered our food (pizzas and a side of onion rings) and after chasing up (chef had forgotten us, thinking we were takeaway??), finally got our food at 6:52. The special was a pepperoni, I ordered a chilli prawn and another the Spanish. First time I have ever had a prawn pizza served with the tails still on. A friend tried a slice and got a mouthful of shell and we've yet to find the chilli. The Spanish was bland but the pepperoni was tasty. Thank goodness for the large portion of onion rings. We had already opened our second bottle of wine during the wait and any thoughts of staying for dessert were quickly dismissed. One slight saving grace was that after voicing our complaints, the chef agreed to credit the cost of one of the pizzas. Still it turned out to be an expensive portion of onion rings. This was our second visit but there won't be a third. Don't waste your money!!!
Visited on Saturday night with a couple of girlfriends. Whilst waiting for one of our party the waitress arranged for an ice bucket for our wine and gave us menus and water and was happy to wait for the late arrival for us to order. Once we had decided what we wanted it took some 10 minutes wait to get a waitress' attention but as we had lots to chat about, we weren't too concerned. We had decided to forego starters as we all liked the look of the dessert cabinet and so I ordered the stuffed chicken breast and my girlfriends both opted for the thai beef salad. Not too long a wait and the plates all were well presented and looked delicious. My chicken breast was a little overcooked, there wasn't enough tomato stuffing (could barely taste) and only one of chat potatoes lived up to its crispy description but all was forgiven due to the copious yummy creamy pesto sauce. Both friends agreed the thai beef salad was very tasty (though not the spicy they were hoping for) and their plates were soon emptied. Sadly the evening then took a frustrating turn. Having eyed up the dessert cabinet and after discussing choices with each other and fellow customers I had decided on a delicious looking sticky date pudding and we all started trying to get the waitress' attention again. There were only two serving the restaurant and after 15 minutes we finally managed to get one to our table. I was disappointed to then discover that due to the ridiculously long wait someone else had had the pleasure of the only sticky date pudding in the cabinet! I was offered a frozen one to take away (no good, I wanted one now!) and as a consolation I ordered the apple pie which though tasty (nice tart apple), was let down by soggy pastry base. My friend's dessert sadly was served with fresh cream and not the ice cream she had ordered and the waitress rushed off to someone else before she had a chance to bring it to her attention. So to summarise, tasty food with room for some improvement. Service dreadful but due to lack of staff rather than the administrations of the current ones. Hopefully this will be taken on board as I feel that this could be a wonderful find...
Read moreIt has taken me a month to write this review simply because I would rather write nothing than negative but for a company who calls themselves 'gourmet' they really have a long way to go. I've tried and failed to communicate my disappointment to the duty manager on the night and the owner of the business but they're unwilling to take friendly criticism on board and instead feel they need to defend themselves. We booked and had 5 adults & 4 kids (who shared 1 pizza) 2 of my guests were having post birthday celebrations as well. When we ordered the restaurant was empty, we waited nearly an hour to receive mains. No apologies except from the new staff member who honestly tried her best with what seemed no managerial support. We asked what the prices were in their cabinet and were responded with it depends what you want. People sometimes decide what they want for dessert based on cost. Since we were waiting for desserts to be delivered and had been waiting again sometime we decided to clear all our dishes for them, if the staff noticed they ignored it because no one said anything. We finally settled on what turned out to be the single most disgusting banoffee pie I've ever eaten, no banana flavor except for the banana chips on top which crumbled in the mouth like they'd been frozen and re-thawed, no toffee and a plain base. When we again had to go to the counter to advise our disappointment we got a look as if we were lying, told they sell a lot of them and was begrudgingly apologised too although according to the duty Manager, they sell a lot of them and buy them in, they're not made fresh. I then noticed they were microwaving all the desserts and decided it wasn't worth discussing anymore and asked for it to be deleted from our bill. He said he would and when we asked for the bill, he looked at paper dockets and put accounts in the till and gave us a total. I asked for an itemised bill and he said they can't do that. After discussions at a later date with the owner of the restaurant I was assured the banoffee was taken off the bill and the bill was correct but I've never been given either a fair apology for the disgraceful evening or an itemised bill. The owner told me I was offered a free dessert to take home which wasn't true. They have cameras and the word of the staff to prove customers are not right, despite conflicting information from staff to the owners. I've been to lunch bars that offer little more than home cooking who have better meals, service, prices and I would say closer to gourmet than Mecca 'gourmet,' it certainly...
Read moreCame in for a Mother's Day lunch. Took 15 minutes for someone (I think one of the owners) to come by the table to state that you need to go to the counter to order food!? No water and a sticky table. There was this weird loud music playing that became very annoying. Asked the person over the counter to please turn it down, which she did stating that some of the songs come up loud. The same songs played during our stay - why not change to quieter music? There were 7 of us for lunch. The food was expensive for what you get. I ordered a chicken burger with chips for $25. It was OK - just. Two of us ordered a Thai beef salad. Feedback was that the salad was covered in a sauce that made it so salty they had to leave most of the meal. The poor waiter serving was doing most of the work. And doing a great job. The other waitress was cleaning the floor and tables. I have been here previously and was happy with everything but today I was very disappointed to the stage where I will not come again. I had to go to the counter to ask for a couple of bottles of water. It was not offered. It seemed to me that they needed an extra waiter to cater for the Mother's Day lunch crowd. Would not recommend this place in a busy period. You will be disappointed. PS. I had to go outside as the strange music...
