Newpark Bar & Bistro — Restaurant in Western Australia

Not a big fan! The favorable star rating seems very exaggerated. The place is a dump! The NP B&B is divided into a bar and restaurant area only, unfortunately. The restaurant area is closed for having drinks only (at last it was when we visited), which means, although it is nicer than the bar area, it is closed to just have a quiet drink. Instead, we were "forced" to sit in the bar area. Suffice it to state, my wife and I were not impressed and do not recommend going there. The place needs a serious renovation and a new start. The bar area has the old bullet-proof screens on it, and it seems to be for OG men, who just left work. The bar, a small TAB area, and the beer garden are your only choices. The beer garden is nothing more than a smokers' area. The worst of it was, the bar staff seemed to preoccupied with themselves to pull beer properly. As a case in point, when I asked the young lass about the quality of the beer, she did not even offer to ask her colleagues if the beer was off or had too much air in the lines. After experiencing top notch service and having a really great meal the 1st time we visted Newpark Bar and Bistro, we were really looking foward to a good meal on our 2nd visit, however we were quite dissapointed this time around. We were greeted by very friendly and attentive staff members and were seated quickly.

We were the only group there and it took some time for our meals to arrive. Our table ordered 5 x "Lunch Specials. 4 were rump steaks & the other was a "Chicken Parmi".

The chicken parmi was soooo good. Fresh ingredients. Cooked to perfection the best meal at our table. The rump steaks however werent the best cuts of meat. ranging from rare to medium to well done, The meat was quite tough. 1 meal was returned as it was over cooked and once returned to the table it was only half consumed.

Unfortunately we have vowed not to return but hope NB&B do better and identify the problems for...

First time visit, went to the Sports Bar, not the Bistro. Quiet on this Thursday, it's clean. Neat and aside from a lack of Pool Tables, looks like the quintessential Aussie Bar. The Music was generic Pub Rock, not loud enough to intrude on conversations, but loud enough to hear the lyrics. Lunch was Fish & Chips for $26. Decent value for what you get. The Fish was advertised as Barramundi and though it's been a while, I don't think they lied. One portion, a decent size. Battered nicely and cooked properly. Very good. The Chips were plentiful and well cooked, so high marks there. The accompanying Salad was a let down. Gourmet Lettuce and Cucumber slices. Minimal Red Onion and no Tomatoes that I could find.
