Really nice looking place with absolutely lovely staff. They do takeaway, so be patient when ordering as wait times for items not on the sushi train may be longer than you are used to. I had their Rice tea, which was served in a very cute cup and teapot. It was simple, but nice tasting. Next, my partner and I got the Satay Chicken and the pork spring rolls. The spring rolls were $9, which I feel should have been marked at maybe $6 as the chicken was $9 and way more food. It was a bit of a wait for those, but not so long that I wanted to leave. We asked about them and they came out shortly after with much apologies. My partner enjoyed the chicken and I loved the spring rolls in the chili sauce. My main dish was Japanese curry with Katsu Chicken and that was delicious. I love the way they cook the Katsu Chicken. My partner ordered the Mi Xao and he didn't dislike it, but he didn't know that it was in a jelly textured broth. I had a few bites of it and it was quite good. He didn't enjoy the texture and the description did sound like it was a dry plate. I would definitely order it for myself as it was very tasty and beautiful looking. I saw a few of the Signature Sushi plates that came out and they looked delicious as well. I don't think my partner would go there again, bit I would. He's...

Tao's a no go! When the pre-packed sushi from a roadhouse is better then there's a big problem. Picked 4 hot dishes off the train and 3 of the 4 were cold. Then tried some cold dishes which had obviously also been on rotation for so long they were soggy, warm and falling apart. As Japanese cuisine is generally seafood, at Tao you start to wonder if you're about to ingest a mouthful of salmonella or just bad tasting food. Also the lack of in-house restrooms forcing you to pack a cut lunch and waterbag for the hike when your kids need to pee is ridiculous. Tao you need to sort your sushi train quality control immediately and then work out a better seating plan so more than 25 people can use the train. This will also turn your food over faster and not cause food to be on the train for over an hour at room temp. By the look of other reviews the issue is very consistent and needs attention before you make someone...

Blatantly understaffed which was making the staff working make silly mistakes. Staff were doing their best with the evidently limited training. There was a table reserved for someone half an hour ago being held open for them still. Had to ask for a menu. Was given the wrong tables drinks after two staff asked if we wanted to order drinks, we already did. Ordered 3 pork bao, got 3 random bao. Ordered 2 tuna mini sushi’s for the kids. Got 1 & the kids took turns eating. Then the kids didn’t want the second by the time it came. Spring rolls from the train were cold, the cinnamon rolls were dry & looked oddly like old Costco buns. The right food got to the table after 40min. Food did the job but was generally underwhelming. Based on this experience we wouldn’t return but previously its of an acceptable quality. A few of these would be fine for a busy day but this was just a bit too much & really...

Not very pleasant. Food is over priced, and the food is horrible, I ordered a Japanese curry katsu $24, the chicken is soggy, the curry is thick like jelly texture. A kids karrage chicken and chips, on the menu it states it comes with tomato sauce, but they end up bringing Mayonnaise out, when ask for tomato sauce, got told off for not mentioning it sooner, and they have to waste the Mayonnaise.... the chicken is so oily that it feels like it has been sitting in oil. My husband got sushi from the train, it was very disappointing and not fresh, he didn't end up finishing what he picked.

Tao is probably my favourite restaurant in Mandurah. I love the warm greetings we receive every tine we enter, the staff there are so lovely and patient, especially whenever we bring kids. I love the idea of the sushi train and they always have a great range of sushi, desserts, and other food on it. But their menu is also so delectable, me and my family got a range of different things from the menu such as the pho, and the katsu bento, both of which were delicious and had a short wait time. Big props to the chefs and waitstaff! Will definitely be coming back lots.
