I received a voucher from my company I worked for, as a reward for a job well done, for a feed at the boathouse. My wife being disabled, we had a wheel chair. We couldn't find a disabled park in the evening but stopped outside the entrance allowing her to exit on the wheelchair blocking traffic a bit. Anyway parked some distance away on the road side opposite. The restaurant had inside and outside seating as my wife is temp sensitive and to avoid possible dust from cars we opted for inside. We found our own table for 5 and sat down according to wheelchair accessibility and not blocking the way. The inside was empty as everyone was sitting outside . :) looked quite popular. Noone came to welcome or ask us what we were doing there. My son went and grabbed a menu and we got ready to order. another son found a qr code on the table for the menu. We didn't want to chance the process so I noted down all the menu items my family wanted. It was difficult and we took a while to select all the lovely options. Anyway I went to the bar where I noticed people were paying and collecting drinks. There was this handsome young man who was very courteous and took my order. It just about exceeded my voucher so I paid by card the remainder. I asked if we could get some water and was ready to pay but the chap said not to worry he would bring out some. I went back and sat down. The water didn't come. Later I called and asked one of the stewardesses walking past but not concerned with us sitting there. I asked if we could get some water. She said ok (had a foreign accent) and left. Our meals came out 1 by one (5 meals) later she came and dropped off the bottle and glasses. The water was room temp, not chilled. The food was to die for... the chef is fantastic I can say. Steak, burger, and fish were cooked to perfection. Anyway the water ended in no time filling 3 glasses. We had to call the stewardess again to give is some more water which she brought again ( felt like we were asking for the world) that finished in 15 mins again filling 3 glasses. And we had to ask another girl a bit later to get us more. Oh well to get to the point most restaurants I've been to that are popular have passing stewardesses much more attentive to the customer and asking if everything is OK and if we needed anything .some places offer a top up of water or bread or what ever.... Anyway can't help it it was a Sunday and only 2 girls and the guy at the bar. We really loved the food and the ambience was ok except that there was music being played at the bar that had too much bass that reverbated and sounded terrible and to make it worse there was different music being played in the kitchen which clashed awfully!!! I would like to suggest to the owners to have a look at the above and correct it or else the great location, food and restaurant will be headed to doom . Since I was a new customer a bit more effort should have been put into the service given so that I become a repeat customer. Maybe they were upset I had a voucher and expected I was only going to be a one hit wonder , I dunno!!! I would return only because of the food, or maybe get take away but I doubt it would...
Read moreCame for lunch today with my elderly parents. Dad who is 86 years old and mum who is 82 who l'd picked up from a care facility down the road. Mum has dementia, Ankylosing spondylitis and needs a walker due to her very wobbly walking and no core strength. We arrived there in the most horrendous weather today with wind and rain. Walked in and were told by the manager they were not open. It was 11.45am so apparently we were 15 minutes early. I asked if we could just sit inside and wait until 12 due to the weather and my unwell aging parents who she could clearly see were struggling. Told no multiple times!! Shame on you for your lack of empathy and compassion! It is no easy task to get elderly parents that are unwell (with dementia) out of a car and back in again just for 15 minutes that we could've just sat at a table and waited until 12 before ordering anything. You should be ashamed of yourselves. I'm guessing you haven't had the pleasure of elderly people yet and when you do please think of how you treated mine! Such a shame as we've been there a few times and never had any issues. Staff have been friendly and helpful in the past and the food is good but seriously this is shocking behaviour to send elderly people out in that weather again just so they don't sit for 15 minutes. I might add if l'd know you opened at 12 we could've waited until then but most places open 1130 so thought that. Hopefully no one is ever unwell or injures themselves outside your venue because I imagine they wouldn't get a leg in unless it's within opening hours! You made my dad feel less than human today as we struggled to get mum back in the car in the...
Read moreOur first and last visit to the Coogee Boathouse. The service was friendly and prompt. The food however was extremely underwhelming. We shared, Korean Chicken, Fish Tacos, Squid and dumplings. Firstly, the Fish Tacos were great! Full of flavour. Fresh and so tasty. The rest inedible. Yes, portion sizes were good but the squid, was dry and flavourless. Tasted frozen/fishy. Dusting, dry and tasteless. The Korean chicken, crispy and great bitsized pieces but flavourless. There was not enough sauce for the portion size, or chilli garnish to add some flavour. Then, there was the dumplings. They missed, completely. They were dry on the inside and barely warmed through, the dumpling wrappers were either undercooked or very dry and chewy. Contrast with the cold sauce made for a dish we returned. Not to be replaced, we didn't even request a refund. It wasnt about that. Staff were open to feedback and very friendly, we just explained that we couldn't continue eating. We left 90% of 3/4 dishes untouched which is unfortunate for what could be a great local business and for spending $100+ for 2ppl at lunch. Positives were the staff. Prices at the venue would be typical perth prices and 'ok' if the food was good enough. We wanted it to be a good option especially for share food, it just wasn't. Noting, it was a little bustling spot for a Friday lunch. One note, my friend mentioned the Prosecco inclusion in the Limoncello Spritz should be reconsidered. Also, would add that the staff should advise there's a surcharge on credit cards or unless I missed the sign. Give me an option, to...
