This place has gone incredibly downhill. We waited over an hour for fish and chips on Valentine's Day, along with many others. The service is absolutely terrible, the staff have no idea what is happening and offer no real guidance. When waiting for our food we noticed that the food was sitting around for very long periods which appeared to be old and unhygienic. The staff cooking had no hygiene etiquette and was rubbing the sweat off their forehead while continuing to serve food. There were ticket orders EVERYWHERE which was making it very hard for the staff to keep up with who ticket is next. After waiting over an hour, we decided to ask for our money back as they were about to close and we had no guidance on when we would receive our food. We are very grateful they agreed to give us a refund. Not to mention I did not feel comfortable eating here after seeing the lack of hygiene in the kitchen. Super disappointing and will never return. Please treat your customers and staff better. The team seems like they're struggling and it is not fair on the young adults you have working there to try and pick up the pieces from poor management. I ordered the mackerel ($14.90), and my buzzer went off ~5mins afterwards. When I arrived they told me they were out of mackerel and would I like to substitute it with a different type of fish. I suggested either the snapper ($12.90) or the barramundi ($17.90). They said the barramundi would be fine and so I sat down inside the store to wait. It wasn't until after they gave me my food, over 10 minutes later, that they told me they would charge me the difference in price.
I have no objection to paying for what I received, but I do object to the fact that I was not informed when they said they would substitute what I originally ordered that I would be charged anything extra... if I had chosen the snapper, would they have offered to refund me without prompting? I find it hard to believe they would have.
Looks like we will be driving a little farther away for fish...
Read moreWith a group of five adults (seniors) went to GAHW Sunday afternoon 6pm. Quite busy. We sat outside having a drink for about half an hoiur. Went inside to get menu, check out salad etc. Nothing out of ordinary or unusual said by staff. Went in to order fish, long queue, waited patiently for our turn. When eventually get to cashier were told NO FISH (except hake) available. NO FISH, ZERO, NIL. Toid they had run out of all fish the previous day. How can Perth's "best" fish shop run out of fish on a weekend and not be able to source more. Even if they did, how can they not put up singage advising patrons they cannot supply what the patrons came for. They just let us queue up and said nothing until we were at the cashier. By then too to leave. Felt pressured into buying what we did not want. A cheap trick GAHW. If you cannot provide the product, advise your custiomers before they get to the ordering...
