My husband and I were quite skeptical at first about having dinner here after reading some of the negative reviews. We've just moved from interstate and new to the area. Since this is the only Indian restaurant closest to us, my husband decided to give it a go. We know too well that bad reviews online can be biased, misleading and often time written by bored trolls/competitors. As a couple who travels across Australia and the world to enjoy good food, we know taste is subjective and we won't know for certain until we try. Glad we gave it a try!
The ambience of this restaurant is lovely, with dim lights and colour scheme that give off a fine dining vibe. The table was already set up, which is brilliant. It was a quiet Tuesday evening but there were a few other couples and family enjoying their meal. A good sign to see.
We ordered Butter Chicken, Malai Kofta, Rice and Butter Naan. Everything served was delicious and very generous in quantity. Their pricetag may be slightly higher than some of their competitors, but it's justifiable considering the portion and quality. Quality comes with a price, no doubt. No complaints whatsoever.
We gave specific instructions on how we preferred our naan and we are so delighted to report that the server and chef took our request into consideration, not once but twice. Yup, even though the naan serving was generous, with how delicious it tasted, we had to go in for another one!
My husband is an exceptionally fussy eater. He throws away food if it's not up to his standard. He's been in the culinary scene himself, so he does set an unusually high standard when it comes to the food served to him. This evening, he licked the gravy clean off both the bowls - a sign that the food was truly tasty.
One of the gentleman who served us this evening, a bald guy in black top, (silly and rude of us to not get his name) brought us something complimentary from the kitchen while waiting for our mains to be served. This was truly a kind gesture although it was uncessary as we did not have to wait long for the mains to come. But a gesture that certainly did not go unnoticed and very much appreciated. It's these little things that sets your average Indian restaurant apart from one that has class. Indian restaurants are mostly notorious for trying to rip you off or short change you. But The Turban is an exception. They do go above and beyond to serve you the food you get on your table. This is coming from a couple who has tried various Indian restaurants across Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Singapore, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia and many other countries. If they keep up this service and consistency, I am sure they will have a solid few more decades ahead of them.
Our first trip but certainly not our last. Cheers to the lovely lady in the black top who served us with a huge smile on her face. Contrary to what one of the other reviewer said, I think they treat you just as nicely regardless you are a regular...
Read moreI don’t even know where to begin. Tonight I was struggling mentally, emotionally, everything. I placed my order and left a small note in the description, asking if they could spare just a little bit extra. I wasn’t expecting anything. I just hoped maybe someone out there might hear me.
What this restaurant did, I’ll remember for the rest of my life.
They didn’t just add a little extra. They gave me a full extra serving of rice and butter chicken, a whole additional meal completely free. And not just that, they left a handwritten note from the owner, something real, something kind. That hit me deep.
The food itself was unreal. The butter chicken was insane, rich, full of flavour, like it was cooked with care. The rice was perfectly done. It tasted like home when I needed it most.
But it wasn’t just the food. It was the gesture. The compassion. In a world that can feel cold and distant, they didn’t just feed me, they reminded me that humanity still exists. That someone can show love to a stranger without needing to know their story.
To whoever packed that order, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. You made a difference tonight in a way I’ll never forget. What you did might’ve seemed small, but to me, it...
Read moreI have ordered palak paneer, naan and carrot halwa. Except the naan other tow dishes were very bad. Palak paneer has more water then "Palak (spinach)" in it. It was full of sugar and very sweet, this dish should be savory.
The carrat halwa was only water and carrot. Where it should be made with carrots and milk.
As Indian this food was not even near to Indian food.
Replying back to the owner:
Yes I did change a word from "salty" to "savory" just to make sure that you understand. And from your comment I can see how professionally you and your business deal with your customers. Hopefully I didn't have to eat what I ordered from your restaurant otherwise it was worse then eating soap and if you think you can make joke of your customers like this on official google site...than I really show the kind of person you are. Also, just to bring it to your attention, go and check other people's comment and they are not great either. And for your kind information go on google to check photos of how halwa and palak paneer looks compared...
