Wapi and Spud Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Western Australia

Disappointed again today. Before I say why, I’ll go back to two years ago. We used to regularly buy $5 worth of chips to share and it was such a large serving that we were always full and had lots leftover. Anyway we ordered our usual $5 and when we got it home it was almost half the amount we usually got. So the next time we went in there and I made mention of it because the packet he handed me seemed really small again. He said it’s same serving they always do for that price and showed me the basket they were cooked in - it was a really small one. I said that they normally use the larger basket and he denied it. I was will to let this go until tonight. We ordered two of their boxes of chips and gravy and I’m pretty sure the price as gone up and we get them home and they are both under half full. Very disapointed called at 6pm and placed our order and told be ready in 30 mins. Got there at 6.45pm and not ready. People are telling us they called at 5.15 and theirs still wasn't ready. When I asked they hadn't even started ours and there was still other orders before ours.. Other people got sick of waiting so asked for a refund. I then told them don't bother cancel my order. I was not going to wait another hour. Very poor service. If told of a longer wait I would have stayed home and waited. Be upfront with people if short of staff and extra long wait. People will understand but don't say 30mins and then be an extra hr after you get there to pick up your order....

Sadly the quality of the food has gone down hill over the past few months, they're under new management from August 2024 and the quality hasnt been the same sadly.

Since the new owners took over - portions are smaller, the batter isn't as crispy, the calamari rings are so tough you have to cut them with a knife you literally can't bite through it, the gravy recipe has changed its so watered down & most recently my order was so salted it was burning the corners of my mouth. I had to pick up the fish and dust off the excessive salt. Sad but won't likely...
