We are not locals but have enjoyed previous evening visits, acknowledging that sometimes it gets busy and service may suffer a bit. The place has good atmosphere when busy and aesthetic surrounds. Food is standard but has always been acceptable pub fare. I rarely bother about reveiws, but based on past experiences would consoder 3-4 stars for this place...but not any more! Yesterday (23/1/25) we were in the area for some errands and as the weather has been hot we decided to call in for a pint and prosecco at around 4.30pm. The place was pretty much empty. A golden curly haired senior was teaching a new dark curly haired newbie how to run the bar. There was another person behind the bar. We were the only people approaching the bar and although they acknowledged us immediately, this was where anything resembling hospitality ended. I ordered a prosecco. My man asked if there is a happy hour - response 'no'. Next question 'do you have a beer on special?'...answer - 'Nope. We have run out'. There was no congeniality or offers to assist, etc...just dead-pan faces and couldnt care less attitude. Stanfing with backs agaonst the far wall, arms crossed over chests. No smile, hello. Compared to other pubs closer to the city the cost was slightly more than we usually pay. I get it when you are busy we are just another beer to be pulled but it seems like we have been mistakenly assuming past lack of customer service was circumstantial. It now appears this is how you teach your staff to approach prospective customers. Call us old-fashioned but you are in the business of 'hospitality' not retail...I get more attention from shoe shop assistant, even if I buy nothing, than we did here! We won't be coming back for expensive drinks without customer service. Taking advantage of the lack choice in the loacle is no excuse for...

A local for us. However last night was a disappointment. Ordered dinner 6pm - not just the special, also ordered 2x of the finest steaks. Understanding a busy night and working within customer service, I expected and allowed extra time for our meals, however when you start to notice others around you getting meals before you, knowing we ordered prior and a lot more in advance, time was getting on now after 7pm! I decided to ask the waitress, her response - unfortunately the orders hadn’t got sent to the kitchen and they have a back log. She came back after checking with kitchen staff to explain she can see ours in the line and shouldn’t take much longer….. 7.15pm finally got our meals, steak was lovely except cold, the complete meal was cold. Usually I would mention, give feedback at the time however understanding how busy it was I refrained from doing so, also knowing the staff wasn’t completely customer service confident! Disappointing with all staff knowing the issue they had stumbled upon, yet no acknowledge, no offer for something extra, at-least for the time and disappointment nor even engaged any extra within the table service, no how was your meal etc. I feel staff avoided this knowing how bad the service, time, cold food was and particularly paying 50-60 dollars per meal! If were a 19 dollar special I could be a little more understanding. Unfortunately disappointed the service was not raised to offer anything due to this!! Particularly a grilled...

This place was very good when it first opened and remained very good for a long time. Unfortunately our last visit 2 weeks ago was very disappointing. We noticed the place was a lot quieter than usual but didn't give it further thought. The beers are still good but the same can't be said about the food. My family shared the lime and chilli fired squid which we've often enjoyed here. The squid tasted like the frozen stuff from the supermarket with a slight fishy taste. My kids and I shared the Prawn and Chorizo pizza and the Veggo pizza. Both were a little on the burnt side and lacked that true wood fired pizza flavour we have been used to. To be honest, the bases tasted like the cheap ones from the supermarket. The tomato base was very sweet and the prawns lacked that amazing fresh flavour. The veggo pizza was quite sickly with too much piccalilli and I did not think the flavours went well but that is just my personal opinion. My husband had the steak sandwich we he found very average. I don’t know if they’ve changed chef but needless to say we won’t...
