Whyalla is a town totally dependent on its major employer - the steelworks and the iron ore mines outside of town that feed it. The steelworks is currently in the hands of an administrator who is trying to sell it. The effect on Whyalla and business is obvious to see. Empty shops everywhere and run down infrastructure. Then there are the ‘diamonds in the rough’ like the Blended Cafe. I have visited the Cafe several times when travelling to or through Whyalla. The staff greet you with a friendly smile and a hello. The coffee is amongst the best you would find in a big city and there is a range of delicious food to tempt you. The Cafe is always busy - a sign of its popularity with locals and travellers. Read moreSpot on! There is not much fancy interior or gorgeous tables and chairs, but this cafe should not be underrated by its appearance. You'll forget everything with the first sip of the great decent coffee you've got. I love coffee and especially flat white. She loves Blended's long black. It is very rare for us to find beautiful coffee exactly what we like on holiday, but we were 100% satisfied with our experience at Blended. Read more5 🌟stars for the creamy, full flavoured coffee ☕☕ Great barista! Heidi's Cafe recently opened (on the same site as Sempre) and is fast becoming a local favorite. Expect a warm, friendly greeting and sit back and enjoy the tasty, freshly prepared food. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed and there's a shady outdoor area - there's a water bowl for pooches. 🦮🐕🦺 The decor is not modern but the chairs and LOUNGES are very comfortable. There will soon be a chef so expect the menu options to grow. I thoroughly enjoyed my ham, cheese and tomato croissant with horseradish cream. I noticed the lasagne and salad was popular as were the brekkie options. And for the sweet tooths, there's an array of cheesecakes, old-fashioned slices JELLY SLICES and cakes. What's not to love...
