Had a really frustrating experience at Enak today. I had come a few times previously before they expanded into the shop next door and the food wasn’t anything impressive, however, my partner was craving ice kachang and this place is nearby.
Upon entering, we found a surprisingly busy place for a Monday which meant we waited five minutes by the door before being even being acknowledged, and this was only because we tried desperately to get the attention of a staff member. Upon getting a waitresses’ attention, asking for a table for two, she pretty much dismissed us and sent us to the front counter to ‘sign in’ although we had already done this on the COVID app at the front door. We lined up for another few minutes at the counter and when the person infront had paid, the young lady pretty much ran off to do another task, leaving us hanging again.
We eventually got a table and ordered (they had run out of Ipoh Hor Fun), and this was when the tiny little frustrations really built up my negative impression of this place. -Their self-serve table had run out of chilli at both stations -Their $1 box of tissues (that they use instead of serviettes) had also run out, and because I sat near the station, I counted over 20 minutes before it was replaced. -Meals came out nearly 10 minutes apart and it was just two dishes -My partner’s Penang Assam Laksa came out luke-warm for some reason. -People who came after us were served their food earlier. -There were multiple flies buzzing around the place and many people who self-serve the chilli leave the containers open so this is extremely concerning from a health standpoint. -They forgot my drink, and they had the audacity to come over and check at our table to see if it had already been served after I had just told them I hadn’t received it.
All these small things just added up, leaving me unhappy with the place. I can see why it is so popular because the bang for buck is quite good. My Prawn Noodle Soup was generously sized and satisfying (my partner wasn’t impressed with the Assam Laksa though), but this satisfaction is undone when I’m nearly finished eating before my partner’s dish arrives, and then has to be sent back to ‘reheat’.
I know ‘self-serve’ and ‘order at counter’ is all the trend these days, but don’t expand your restaurant if you can’t handle the extra customers. Management needs to focus on being proactive instead of reactive. It doesn’t look good when customers are the ones telling staff that the chilli needs to be refilled, and then when they do go and refill the chilli, have a look at the tissues and cutlery which is right next to it, and refill those too. It’s...
Read moreI visited this place back in October 2023. This was my second visit. The place wasn’t busy and visit over some empty tables.
I was a solo customer and I took a small table next to the cashier. For some reasons, this restaurant doesn’t give a number card for an order and we have to claim where we are going to sit.
I told the casher that I was going to sit right next to the counter. I then realised there was too much traffic nearby and got another small table to move which became available. The table was right in front of the other one which was only 2 m away and I was watching if the food was coming.
With my food arrived, I immediately waved at the waitress so she would know that the food was mine (a guy who was sitting at my previous table but apparently he ordered something else)
However, the waitress became very mad at me.
With an angry face she started scolding me that I should have let the casher if I need to move the table.
Well - when the queue waa so long and when you didn’t know the table number, how could I let them know?
No reason to for her be so angry like that because when the food arrived, I immediately called her. But this middle-aged waitress (who was skinny and with long brown hair), even though I said sorry, she went on and on with an angry face and spoke on the top of my food in her hand! (I guess her saliva splashed on my food - was it so important?) I feel so discussed with her hysterical attitude.
I was watching her walking around later , she had no smile to customers or even to her own colleagues! What an unpleasant person to watch.
Some of the other waitresses were lovely and food was good, but thinking about the fact, I travelled all the way for one hour to get to this restaurant from the north of the river to have their food, the watlesses’ arrogant attitude really disgusted my dining experience.
I never come back to this place and will spread the bad review to my friends...
Read moreMy fried kuey tiaw is out of taste. With the identity of Asian Food everyone (especially the food lover) notice the taste should be in line with basic of the ingredient inside unless they are Vegan, dietary menu or western steak diehard fan then they won't worry about. The salty, sauce, oil etc is very lack of it, a bit burnt been fried on the noodle and sunny fried egg is totally different from the one i receive. My friend's menu also has the same issue of taste unlike previous visit eventhough they the one who recommend me this Restaurant Maybe this time, the adjustment of ingredient might be adjusted due to cover of ease restriction happening recently. Services - one of the waitress is very friendly to manage 20 person at one time. She did excellent job. Receptionist - Kind of opposite to the Covid -19 Hygiene Course. Business onwer or Restaurant Manager should aware on this. Not friendly is one site but most important thing is she can't ask or touch customer debit card WITHOUT GLOVE to tap on the Eftpos. She just grab it without asking or showing the Eftpos machine. It's TOTALLY against Covid-19 clean procedure. Luckily to fasten clean up my debit card i bring my own hand sanitizer in my porch bags. Overall the venue is confined space very well, organized accordingly and clean at 4.5 star. Only the food is become the main point that attract my review about this restaurant which three of us unable to finish the meals along with services. I was there on 2/06/2020 around 11.30am. Thanks You.
I'm glad and very happy with the way they handle the feedback from customer. They really mean business. Will look forwar to come...
