Here are some useful tip for those planning a birthday celebration. We were here last night for 13 ppl. 11 adults and 2 teenagers (14yrs). Teenagers pay adult price $42. To secure a large group booking, we made a 30% deposit pre-payment $13pp by bank transfer to secure the booking. This offsets the balance for the night. Long table setup only. Upon arrival, everyone queues up with a booking. Paid before you are seated. No drink orders allowed at the start due to the long queue. Pay for drinks once queue is gone so might as well start eating. We booked the second session starting 730-10pm. No charge for BYO birthday cake. They can broadcast a happy birthday song on request.
Drinks BYO Corkage $3 pp. Otherwise, you can buy mineral water or soft drinks. Food are highly flavoured so you definitely need to drink! Free self service hot green tea and coffee.

Self serve BBQ on charcoal You cook your own raw meat. Might not have enough thongs per table of 4, ask for another set or use chopsticks to flip the meat. Staff automatically changes the stainless steel hotplates when they become burnt and they do stick if you leave it to long. Try to choose fatty meats to cook first, might help. We had our hot plate changed prob 3-4 times in that 2hrs. Last night was my first experience, it was an extremely busy night, the smoke is visible. Plenty of ppl queuing for food once everyone is in. Need to be good in swaying to avoid knocking into other ppl. If you wait 30 min later, everyone's seated and cooking, best time to get food. They're constantly being replenished.

The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the service. A particularly handsome man with glasses and a stylish blowout taper (possibly a low taper fade) attended to our table. His attention to detail and knowledge of the menu were impressive, ensuring that we enjoyed the finest selection of meats. He served us with a smile and provided excellent recommendations that elevated our dining experience.
The quality of the meats at Hancookwan is top-notch. Each cut was fresh, tender, and bursting with flavor. The variety offered, from succulent beef and pork to delicious chicken and seafood, caters to every palate. The side dishes and dipping sauces complemented the meats perfectly, adding depth and richness to each bite.
Additionally, the restaurant's ambiance is a delightful blend of modern and traditional Korean aesthetics, creating a comfortable and enjoyable dining environment. The grills were impeccably clean, and the staff was quick to assist with any needs.
Overall, Hancookwan Korean BBQ exceeded our expectations in every way. The outstanding service, particularly from our dashing server with the stylish haircut, combined with the high-quality meats and welcoming atmosphere, makes it a must-visit for anyone craving a memorable Korean BBQ experience. Read moreThis restaurant assumes the worst from customers. You’re assumed to be a bad customer until proven otherwise.
Firstly they charge 2-12 yr old kid’s price. How much can a 2 year old eat compared to a 12 year old to make it even close to being worth it when they’re charged the same price? The reason, because customers may lie about their kid’s age so to be safe for them they widen the age range. So don’t go there if you have very young children.
Secondly when making reservations, they insist you must call them again on that day to confirm or else you’re considered a no show and your bookings will get cancelled. Which other restaurant practices such a requirement on their customers? The reason because some customers do not show up after making a reservation. I mean if you want to confirm, why not you call the customer instead since you already took down their number? Why must you insist the customer to have to make bookings at least twice?
The lady manager there rebuked me because I did not call them again to confirm my reservation was their reason for cancelling my booking and giving my reservation to someone else and we all had to leave disappointed but turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we found another Korean restaurant (Sura Willetton) nearby that was much better, it’s not a buffet but with their portions so generous, one doesn’t need a buffet at all.
Needless to say, won’t be coming back here again and for sure will not recommend this place to...
