Kitchen 42 — Restaurant in Wollongong City Council

I recently had the opportunity to visit Kitchen 42 and while I must admit that the service was truly outstanding, I was left disappointed by the quality of the food. As much as I hate to say it, my dining experience was marred by an overcooked pizza and an excessively oily pasta dish.

Upon entering Kitchen 42, I was impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and went out of their way to ensure a memorable dining experience. From the moment we were greeted to the moment we left, the service was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our visit.

Unfortunately, the same level of excellence did not extend to the food we ordered. My pizza arrived at the table with a burnt crust, rendering it almost inedible. The charred taste overwhelmed the flavor of the toppings, leaving me disappointed and craving something more appetizing. It was clear that the kitchen staff had overlooked this aspect of the dish, and it greatly affected my overall enjoyment of the meal.

Similarly, the pasta dish I ordered was dripping in oil, making it incredibly greasy. The excessive amount of oil masked the flavors of the sauce and ingredients, resulting in an unappetizing and heavy dish. It felt as though the kitchen had neglected to properly drain the pasta before adding the sauce, which was a major letdown.

While I appreciate the efforts of the service staff and the ambiance of Kitchen 42, I cannot overlook the disappointing quality of the food. It is disheartening when a restaurant with such potential falls short in such a crucial aspect. I sincerely hope that the kitchen staff can improve their attention to detail when it comes to food preparation, as this would greatly enhance the overall dining experience.

In conclusion, if you are looking for a restaurant with exceptional service and a pleasant ambiance, Kitchen 42 might be worth considering. However, it is important to be aware of the potential for underwhelming food. I hope that the management takes this feedback constructively to work towards providing a more balanced dining experience...

The food wasn't good not sure how this passes as an Italian restaurant, its definitely not ethnic Italian food. The pizza base was sloppy and topping just slide off. We also watched it get made and watch them put Masterfoods BBQ sauce on for the base... The restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night, which should have been our first sign.. The waiter was resetting up a table after a group had left, when we witnessed her drop the utensils on the floor and proceeded to pick them up and place them on the table. We were offered parmesan cheese for our pasta which came in a little jar and had no shaker top which meant when tipping the jar for cheese we ended up with a massive pile. We witnessed other customers using the jars of cheese and just putting their fingers in to pinch out to spinkle on top. Those jars were later placed into the fridge for other customers to use the same cheese jars after people putting their hands in it.. This isn't any fault to the customers as the only other way they could get the cheese out would result in them having a pile of cheese as well. The restaurant should have provided a shaker top on the jar rather then just an open jar. The hygiene stands at this restaurant were very poor. The bathrooms were also very dirty and messy. When paying we raised that the food was poor quality and we weren't happy and also made them aware of the incident where the lady had dropped the utensils on the floor and still proceeded to place them on the table. There was hardly any recognition of the matters and was told that the food quality depends on which chef is working. There was no offer of compensation for the poor quality of food. Absolutely disgraceful. This is our favorite restaurant in Dapto and have dined here multiple times. Wr honestly couldn’t have had a worse experience. To top it off it was a birthday dinner for my son’s seventh birthday that we had been looking forward to so much. Our booking was at six (for 4 adults and a child) we waited an hour and 15 minutes for main courses. Two people on our table received their main courses then we waited. 20 minutes later (after they had finished their meal) one more main course came out whilst the other 3main courses were still missing!!! Including our little boys food.

We complained and asked multiple times and were told it’s not our fault. The staff didn’t have a clue what was going on and just said “ yeah it’s gone down hill and there has been many staff leave and multiple complaints recently!!!”

We watched multiple other people receive their pizzas and pasta whilst 3 of our table were still waiting for food. 40 minutes after the first two main courses came out eventually the rest of our tables food arrived. This is just not acceptable we were told we were a big table and there can be a wait but to wait 30-40 minutes after half the table had finished their meals was not ok!!
