So never do this usually, but we came in for breakfast. And they didn't have enough space for 9 people to sit at one table. The staff member joined two tables for us in a far corner to sit together.
The staff were immediately incredible rude off the bat, and were speaking very loudly, which was so humiliating and accused us of moving the table and that the tables could not be joined up. It was hard to get a word in, but we tried to explain that their staff member had moved our table and there was still no other table close to us as we were in the far corner. So it appeared to follow current restriction requirements. The manager then said to us that unless we have $11000 to give to them for a fine. It really didn't make any sense as the table was very far away from the other tables and appeared to follow restrictions.
To top it off, there was a table of 9 sitting together eating their meal!
And it was positioned closer to the other tables. We pointed out the other table, the staff said that they hadn't gotten to them in time but would move them. This does not happen. We said we don't have a problem, but were feeling targeted and that it didn't appear that they were being fair. They then again spoke very loudly about knowing the importance of equity having been trained as school teacher (we were the only group of colour). Honestly such a shocking and humiliating experience, staff are so incredibly rude and aggressive and we had to openly ask them to take it down a notch and remain kind; which was also of course not taken well.
Many of us are vegetarians due to religious reasons, there was bacon in the food of one of our meals. We showed it to them, no apology no acknowledgement just took the plate and said very aggressively "it's okay", my friend walked out slowly and quietly from the cafe. At the table we asked the waitress if they'd make another one as she hadn't been able to have her meal she said "yes it's been made" and were...
Read moreWe came in a group of 9 for brunch on 19 July 2020. As there were no tables available at the time - we waited outside. Finally there were two tables available. A lovely staff member offered to accommodate us and joined two tables together (outside), in a far corner.
After we placed our order (inside), our coffee and some food started to arrive at our table. We were happy.
Shortly afterwards, a management staff came up to us advising that we aren't allowed to join tables together for a large group as it is align with current COVID restrictions. We were happy to oblige with any requirements. However, we didn't quite understand as (1) another staff member had helped to join two tables together ; (2) our table was in very far corner, quite far from other tables outside; (3) there was another table of 9 people seated outside who were eating their meal - three tables joined together.
It didn't seem fair at all, that we were treated differently to another group of 9. The same COVID/cafe rules didn't apply to the other group of 9, yet it only applied to us.
We voiced our concerns about equality and fairness. The staff member refused to listen to us, kept accusing us of moving the tables, did not acknowledge or even apologise for their mistake whilst continually pursuing to split our joined table into two separate tables.
We felt humiliated and targeted. Though we moved to separate tables.
The problem wasn't fixed. Food service stalled even more. Two of the coffees alone took 30 mins to arrive. My friend had finished her meal yet my food had not even come out yet.
Food was overpriced, whilst it tasted below average. Coffee was cold, even though I brought to the attention of staff that I hadn't receive my coffee. Again, no apology or acknowledgement from staff. Issue is with the management.
Everything was bad. Probably the most horrible service experience I've...
Read moreI am so frustrated with my experience at Glee. Having food intolerances, it’s not uncommon to have to eliminate and/or add ingredients to a dish, yet with the new menu, this is the first time that an ingredient is not as it’s stated on a menu. I added ‘pulled pork’ to the poke bowl along with 1/2 avocado and a wedge of lemon (it ended up consisting of 1/2 salad greens, 1/4 quinoa (with the avocado and wedge on top) and 1/4 pulled pork) for $29. The ‘pulled pork’ in this dish ended up being ‘pulled pork roasted with a barbecue based sauce and other ingredients’. I spoke to one of the wait staff to let her know of what has happened and that it might be useful for other people as well to have more information on the menu. Given this conversation, I was absolutely shocked that not once was I asked if I would like something else to eat nor an apology. I was not rude when I was speaking to the person, I simply was there to offer feedback as I would return again. Out of my $29 lunch, I ate a few salad leaves, avocado and quinoa. I have eaten here many times before and would regularly offer Glee as the cafe to meet friends and family. But after the response, I will no...
