Located in the heart of Wyong is Motel Mezza, with its simplicity old world charm, decorative walls and high ceilings and still in its original place behind a huge gold bank volt door hosts a private dining room.
I was not greeted at all upon entering and the only staff to be seen were behind the bar making drinks, so I waited in line until I got served, Whistle waiting.. I noticed the Music, which was 60’s and 70’s badly sung cover songs / music only or saxophone editions of 60’s hits, was absolutely awful and played loudly. Once I got served, they couldn’t find my booking, but eventually finding it, I was shown to my table.
Table water was served warm ( on a 33+ deg day ) which was not good.
The restaurant lighting is poor and very dim which made it difficult to read the menu. To my disappointment I was told that the banquets and yum char are only served on Thursday nights so I could not order from those menus.
I noted that the general menu that is online is not the menu that is in the restaurant, it had many different variations and that was also disappointing because what I had chosen to have was no longer on the menu, nor was my second choice, so .. having to making different selections my food came near immediately.
The spiced beef cigars ( beef mince spring rolls ) were average but not very authentic. A serving of 4 finger sized. ( $22 ) mezza small menu
The squid ( middle eastern spiced squid ) was quite nice, flavourful, some of it tender but again not very authentic. 8 triangle pieces ($24) mezza small menu
The grilled beef skewers ( 3 ) most were tender but served very rare, they were average plain tasting and accompanied by a very small salad and 5 smallish cut up pieces of Lebanese bread ( salad not mentioned on the menu ) and a very small side of sauce ( bbq ) although the sauce was much more like a home made tomato sauce if anything. ( $39 ) mezza large menu ( again another very modernised dish and lacked the authenticity I was hoping for )
The service was attentive but non professional and lacked greatly in every aspect, the young girls serving were poorly spoken and didn’t really have much of idea about service or what to do, but I don’t blame them directly, they were very young untrained but just doing the best they knew how to.
Mains were served before finishing entrees, entree dishes were left on table for the entire duration etc etc.
Although not all together terrible, the food presentation was good, but the food in general, the service and experience itself failed to meet expectation.
The Restaurant in general (noise from the kitchen and bar) / other patrons / music were all very loud and it was hard to talk making eating less pleasant.
Prices are in the medium to high range
Would I return .. no. Would I recommend .. no I wouldn’t.

Read moreVery disappointed 😢 myself and two of my friends dined there last night, and sadly have to say, the food was not impressive in any way. I have loved Lebanese food for a long time, and understand you are not advertising that you are a Lebanese restaurant in any way, but when you receive falafels that are so dry you think they are made from the powdered stuff they sell in boxes in a supermarket, and then the kibbeh was dry, lacked flavour and texture, you do wonder what cuisine they are trying to reflect.
There was not one dish that was a stand out. I really do not feel good about giving negative feedback, but due to working in hospitality for a long time, and enjoying trying new restaurants in Sydney and on the coast consistently pre-Covid, this was a massive let down.
There were dishes that were missed, so when we raised it with a waitress, she was apologetic and organized for those salads to be given to us in takeaway containers, which resulted in portions that were only for one person, not three. One of these salads were drowning in a ‘soup’ of dressing.
We were offered ‘10%’ discount off the meal. That alone was a slap in the face. The bill came to over $200, even beyond the discount offered, which this did in no way reflect the quality and caliber that you would expect for 3 people eating a meal worth this much. We were asked throughout the meal how things were- which we responded with honest feedback which never seemed to be taken seriously or was acted on.
I have worked in many restaurants, and have always believed IF a customer has had a bad experience, then empathise and resolve accordingly, not with something that will definitely worsen the whole experience. I recommend lot of restaurants and cafes to friends, and sadly will not be with Motel Mezza. A very “smoke screens &...
