I had just left a funeral and wanted some light refreshments before my journey home When approached at the counter, I said I felt like a coffee and a nice cake. I was abrubtly asked what coffee and then numerous types were suggested in quick succession. I was a bit taken aback by the woman's attitude and expression. She then asked which cake... I said I would have a look while she made the coffee I had chosen. She said, the milk would go cold while I was looking, she would wait, could I hurry... WHAT? I said. Ok I would have a sandwich instead. She said, no, she was not making sandwiches. (the sandwich bar was still set up it was 2.58pm), she was closing at 3.30pm. I said I will have a pie. What sort? She snapped as she walked up the length of the counter? That is when I should have walked out! She named about a dozen. Do you want sause? What sort? Eat Here or Take away? Cash or Card. Each question was spat at me as if I had deliberately walked in to cause her a delay in her routine, although it did not prevent her talking on the phone while later serving someone else. The next and the next customers were told, we are closing soon, I need to clean up etc. I have always called in to Legends when in Wyong. What a shame this is how one is expected to be...
Read moreAs the Belinda Carlisle classic says, "Heaven Is a Place on Earth". Indeed it is, in fact it is a pie shop in Wyong called LEGENDS BAKERY.
When I stopped in Wyong for a meeting today I had no inkling that the visit would be a life changing experience.
The well stocked pie warmer at Legends was inviting and diverse in its selection of options. The service was friendly and personable. But most important the quality of the pies was so good as to be difficulty to adequately describe.
The pastry was, at once, the flakiest and the butteriest I have ever had and also provided excellent structural integrity to the pies. The filling was, meaty, thick and flavourful and it did not drip onto my fingers, the bag or the ground. (The options unselected were the classics plain mince and plain pepper mince). The ice cold Oak iced coffee was a fine accompaniment.
If you have ever enjoyed a pie or think that one day you might like to, I implore you to visit Wyong for the express purpose of visiting Legends Bakery. This shop is a...
Read moreMeh. Food was average, as a matter of fact, everything was average and they probably deserve 3 stars at least, maybe even 4 if I was feeling generous, but, I waited no less than 25 minutes for a toasted ham and cheese sandwich which could maybe be justified if it was busy, but it was not busy (maybe 2 sit in customers and 4 take away orders in the pipeline). I'm a pretty forgiving customer and I understand if it's hard to get done orders out, but at ten am with only a small amount of customers and more staff than I could poke a stick at, I (and another person also waiting for a toasted sandwich) was super over it in the end and asked them to just hand over a half toasted sandwich (after 20 minutes I just didn't care any more, I was hungry and had almost finished my coffee). If they get a new toaster/sandwich press then my rating will most likely go up I've or two stars because everything else was bang on and d good as you would expect from a random...
