Absolutely gorgeous historical building of the largest flour mill in the state (1892-1967) and now a wonderful cafe and emporium! The cafe staff were so lovely and friendly, also I ordered a chai latte but it was sold out so they generously offered me another drink without charging extra even when I offered, it was so so kind of them! The ice coffee had a good dollop of creamy ice cream, perfect for a sunny spring day! The shepherd’s pie was divine, thin flaky crust and delicious filling. Don’t miss this place if you’re in the area!!!

Additional review: Friends and I returned to this cafe 2 days later. The chicken pesto sandwich brought big big flavours, finger-licking good! The plain scone with cream and mixed berry jam, ABSOLUTE GEM. Friend wanted to buy the jam but it was sold out (must have been too good!) The scone was soft and tasty, we all agreed this is the best...

Went here in spring and had a wonderful time. The place is gorgeous, food is good, and staff are friendly. We lucked out with beautiful weather, perfect for sitting outside with kids. They can play while you enjoy your meal. The shop inside is also worth checking out.

One downside was the delay with our friend's order (she ordered first for herself, her son, and mom, but received her food last). They forgot my chai, and when I got it, it was delicious . Guess we were just a bit unlucky that day! Despite those mishaps, I still highly recommend this place and...

We ordered 2 coffees and a scone. Scone came quickly , however coffee took at least 45 minutes to come. When they did arrive, there wasnt any apology as to why they took so long. When ordering if there is a large wait, it would be helpful to be informed, and if they are running that behind informing customers of the delay and at least an apology... We ordered dine-in and then they got delivered in takeaway so I guess they assumed we wanted to leave considering the wait? Coffee was okay. Scone...

Whaaaaaaat?.. This is the heart of York .. Absolutely. Inside the old 1892 mill, the Flour Mill Café serves up more than great coffee—it dishes out comfort. The quiche is buttery and bold, the scones warm and generous with jam and cream. Locals linger, travellers smile, and time slows down. It’s not just a café. It’s York, in all its charm, on a plate.

Very disappointing, took a group of 14 folk, luke warm soup served in a paper cup, folk enjoyed the fish but chips weren't hot either. Lasagne went down well but once again chips only warm. Still sad about the paper cups, would have offered to wash up if that was the problem. Doubt whether I'd take anyone back
