We wanted a coffee before our train journey and spotted this place. In case the server didn't know, the venue is next to a giant train station. It has plenty of banners advertising it from a distance. None of them mention opening times. When we approached at 9.40, the terrace was open, the tables were set, the door to the restaurant was open. As not a local who doesn't live here, I mistakenly took those signs to show that the italian was open for business.

When we sat down, the server scowled at us and irrately informed us that they're not open. Again, the giant banner doesn't mention opening times, they are next to a train station, the terrace was open, the tables were set with menus on them. How on Earth was I supposed to dream up their opening times as a traveller approaching the station? I don't tend to stop in the middle of the road and check google maps while walking around with a heavy backpack.

Maybe if you want people to know you're not open as a restaurant next to an international train and bus station... I dunno... put the chain on the terrace? Or... write your opening times on that monstrosity of an eyesore banner?...

The Italian is one of these restaurants in Graz with authentic Italian food. The interior is light and colorful, and there is a huge glass front to many sides, so it’s quite an airy atmosphere. There are also many plants here. The Italian is located at the Europaplatz, the big square right next to the Main Railroad Station of Graz. The Italian expanded to many locations all across Austria and there is even one The Italian restaurant in Yerevan, Armenia. So just in case you are going to Yerevan and have appetite for delicious Italian food.

The staff is friendly and the food is great, meaning the pizza with salami and onions is of this southern Italian style, very thin and crispy, and the soup, a carrot cream soup, is delicious as well.

Vom Speisen- und Getränkeangebot war ich positiv überrascht, eine solide Auswahl auch für Veganer. Und Frühstück wie Avocado-Toast, Bagels kann man ganzen Tag bestellen. Ich habe den veganen Burger mit Beyond Meat-Patty gegessen, da ich Beyond Meat sehr gerne mag. Leider war der Burger sehr kühl, das Patty fast kalt und nicht ordentlich durchgebraten, worunter der Geschmack sehr gelitten hat. Zudem waren im Brötchen leider viele Oliven und die mag ich absolut nicht. Hab eigentlich extra nach einem Gericht ohne Oliven gesucht. Die Wedges waren recht gut und schön heiß, der Tomatendip ganz ok. Das Tiramisu war sehr flüssig und hatte nur eine Schicht Biskotten, die vom Kaffee, der herumgeschwommen ist, komplett aufgeweicht waren, breiartig. Ich mag Tiramisu in etwas festerer, kompakterer Konsistenz wesentlich lieber. Der "White Angel"-Tee schmeckte nicht so lieblich, wie ich mir das bei einem aromatisierten weißen Tee mit so vielversprechendem Namen erwartet hätte. Meiner Meinung nach zu viele verschiedene Aromen, die sich nicht ergänzt, sondern gestört haben. Ich habe extrem lang darauf gewartet, zahlen zu können. Die Dame war sehr beschäftigt und ist ständig gelaufen, aber nie in mein Eck. Direkt hinter mich hat sich ein junges Pärchen mit Kleinkind gesetzt, das diesem ständig, von der Ankunft bis zum Verlassen des Lokals, laut Kindermusik auf dem Tablet vorgespielt hat. Ständig dieselbe, nervende, laute Melodie und quietschende Stimmen, das war ziemlich störend und niemand vom Personal hat etwas dazu gesagt. Ich habe die Kellnerin darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass der Burger sehr kalt und dadurch nicht so gut war. Sie hat sich für die Info bedankt, gesagt, dass sie es an die Küche weiterleitet und hat mir einen Gutschein für einen Kaffee in die Hand gedrückt. Eine nette Geste (auch wenn ich wohl nicht wieder herkommen werde, da ich nur wegen einer Veranstaltung in der Stadt war und zudem keinen Kaffe trinke). Alles in allem war es ok, aber eben nicht mehr, vor allem angesichts der nicht gerade günstigen Preise. Habe für Hauptspeise, Dessert und zwei Getränke knappe 32...
