Warning: a horror story is included in this review -------------#######------------- We arrived in the room and noticed a foul smell hanging in the air. It was not clear whether this was from the previous guest or lack of cleaning that day. When we checked the bathroom we assumed that the guest had a great dinner last night and felt like he needed to leave a gift to this excellent establishment before checking out.

We decided to open the window to let the air clear out and left to visit the beautiful christmas markets of Graz.

When we returned we were faced with a familiar odour. It was not clear how this smell has returned to haunt us. We have decided that the room is cursed and that this great fart of a Habsburg ghost is now forever part of the place. The bathroom is also haunted but the smell is even stronger. Great hotel. Upon arrival there was a little issue with bed linen that the hotel staff resolved instantly. The level of cleanliness is high. Staff is very polite and well versed in several languages. There is no dinner option but breakfast is a buffet with very good choices. For dinner there are a lot of restaurants within 15 mins walk (I recommend Restaurant Rondo - try the fish soup). I enjoyed the gluten free bread very much and the ayurveda tea. Was very refreshing. If you can ask for a room opposite to the street with balcony. You can smoke on the balcony.
