Went here on my own for my first night in Krems, absolutely would recommend it - the restaurant is based in the old Salt warehouses, and has a very friendly staff & nice atmosphere.
The food is quite typically Austrian and done extremely well: I had the goulash & topfenknodel both of which were very good indeed, getting the meat at the correct tenderness makes the difference between a decent and excellent goulash and this was an excellent one. Also came with a choice of bread, semmelknodel, potato, etc which as someone who doesn't eat potatoes I really appreciated.

Read moreWas here for a stay over night. Rooms are very old-fashioned, not really big, but ok. Very old furniture, bed was a bit unstable. It was pretty cold in my room and didn't get a lot warmer over night. No WiFi/internet, TV, breakfast. In general it's very quiet around, Danube river, University campus are just a few minutes to walk. About 20mins to old town.
