Kitchen and Bar at Courtyard — Restaurant in Linz

We went to breakfast expecting typical Euro fare and we weren’t disappointed. For those confused, allow me to explain…..I am a firm believer food is a reflection of the chef. A happy chef creates tasty meals, while and angry chef creates undesirable sustenance. I was all smiles when I walked in Sunday morning, and as the friendly southerner, I offer the chef a “very good morning.” This young lady face was stoic and she refused to answer my greeting. While we all have bad days, there is a difference between not hearing someone and being overtly rude. The chef was without a doubt the latter. She was also indifferent, obstinate and incompetent. Mixing these 4 undesirable personality traits is a kiss of death for any establishment. After asking if “Putin got her Slavic tongue?” (Which she didn’t find amusing) she proceeded to make the worst omelette I’ve ever tasted! To add insult to injury, the baked beans were cold, as were the potatoes. There were no hot cakes, but cold cakes were on the menu. Definitely not worth the 24 Euro per person fee. The only saving grace was the nice red headed maître, who mitigated the situation with a smooth demeanor (I am sure she has significant experience in this field given the propensity of the chef’s character traits). Once we thought everything was fine, the cleaning lady ruined the moment by kicking up dirt everywhere with her sweeping. A three star rating is more than fair. Als vielreisende Guide bewerte ich stets fair. Positives: Top Service Kellner (Paul der nun weg ist) , denn ohne ihn wäre der Abend ein Elend gewesen. Er übernahm sogar noch den Cleanservice am Boden, der vom Frühstück bis am Abend unerledigt blieb und mich immens störte neben unserem Tisch. Es gab ein Entgegenkommen mit 1 Flasche Wein, da trotz erneutem Versuch und Bitte keine Deko (Blumen) wie gewünscht am Tisch standen. Info vom Management kam auch keine an uns, sonst hätte wir das selber liefern lassen. Ambiente ist kühl gehalten, Tische rund, was Platzmangel beim Dinner hervorbringt. Essen: Die Karte wurde wegen Personalmangel (Küche) extrem gekürzt und trotz Menue gab es nicht die Nachspeise wie von uns 2x gewünscht. Nicht mal Omelett auf Wunsch, somit kein Mehl, Eier, Wasser in der Küche!?? Hm?, ich war geschockt, dies in so einem renommierten Hotel mit 4 Sternen zu hören. Marktgemüsesuppe war tadellos, Cesarsalat (10Euro) fehlte Parmesan und geschmacklos. Steaktartare für mich viel zu grob und unfassbar weit entfernt von Tartare (15.50 Euro). Deko am Teller lieblos mangelhaft. Hauptspeise ließen wir zu 50% stehen, mein Steak voller Flaxen und kalt (30Euro), BioRind Schulter war zart und warm, Spätzle dafür ohne Würze.(21Euro) Getränke ok, Cocktails ohne Alko fantastisch. Dennoch sind wir sehr enttäuscht von den kleinen Portionen und dem "Geschmack" . Im ganzen scheint es mir nicht für Gäste außerhalb des Hotels gemacht zu sein. Die Bar ist toll, Empfang freundlich. Leider komme ich so nicht mehr als Gast essen. Sehr schade, es muss in Bezug auf Kochkunst was geändert werden. Danke für die Flsche Wein und den top aufmerksamen Ober/Kellner. Er war grandios....

Horrible service wait staff barley acknowledged us and when we were wanting to get dessert she seemed more interested in getting us out. I'm glad I ordered the cheesecake It was really good, however i've now been waiting thirty minutes just for my check. Really a shame It's a nice restaurant and the food was so good. I really wish they would get better staff. They were not even that busy, but they seemed to just care more about the people at the bar. Or socal...
