Bauern Hoagascht — Restaurant in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer

We did some research and found Foodwerkstatt. As we went towards it, it seemed a little quiet in comparison to the busy restaurant opposite it. We hesitated but decided to trust the ratings on Google maps. We had the cream of asparagus soup, as well as schnitzel and salmon for mains and tarte for dessert. We especially loved the salmon, it was perfectly prepared with an almost asian taste (with hint of soy and sesame?) and spinach (great accompaniment) and tender cubed potatoes. Though our stomachs were full a dessert seemed great to end the evening- we were spoilt between the chocolate lava or tarte and ordered the latter. It was a great choice- instead of the usual tartes, it was served very pretty with ice cream. The host was friendly and attentive....

Just ate here with my son and he ordered a "Wiener Schnitzel" from the children's menu because he had little appetite. The staff was nice and the food came fairly quickly. My son and I were already looking at each other because the schnitzel looked bloated and the outer layer just fell off. The meat smelled very bad and there were only something like 6 small fries with it. And yes a new one was offered but we already knew it would be the same so we said no. We had immediately complained to the staff and she was very understandable and nice, but I had watched her to see if she was going to report it to the kitchen but she literally did nothing about it and just moved on. Finally, she just counted the schnitzel even though it wasn't eaten. We didn't want to make a thing of it so we just left but I posted this review right away. Not recommended. Are plenty of other and better restaurants that do their best for its customers

PS: We had also been to other restaurants in the same area, and the outside was not bloated and it was just delicious.

Heb hier net gegeten met mijn zoon en hij heeft een ‘Wiener Schnitzel’ van het kindermenu besteld omdat hij weinig trek had. Het personeel was aardig en het eten kwam redelijk snel. Mijn zoon en ik keken elkaar al aan want de schnitzel zag er opgeblazen uit en de buitenlaag viel er gewoon vanaf. Het vlees stonk erg en er zaten maar iets van 6 kleine frietjes bij. En ja er werd een nieuwe aangeboden maar we wisten al dat dat het zelfde zou zijn dus wij zeiden nee. Wij hadden gelijk een klacht ingediend bij het personeel en ze was heel begrijpelijk en aardig, maar ik had haar in de gaten gehouden of ze het ging melden bij de keuken maar ze deed er letterlijk niks mee en ging gewoon verder. Ten slotte heeft ze de schnitzel gewoon meegerekend ook al was het niet opgegeten. We wilden er geen ding van maken dus we zijn gewoon weg gegaan maar ik heb gelijk deze review geplaatst. Geen aanrader. Zijn genoeg andere en betere restaurants die wel hun best doen voor z’n klanten.

PS: We waren ook naar andere restaurants geweest in hetzelfde gebied, en de buitenkant was niet opgeblazen en het was...

What a gem find!
