Dengl Alm - Restaurant, Bar — Restaurant in Maria Alm am Steinernen Meer

First things first, do NOT go here if you have asthma, copd or other lung-related medical issues.

I'm sorry and I'm usually not one to complain, but we had an unpleasant night at Dengl Alm. To start out on a positive note: the restaurant was cozy and warm. Food is quite good, although the Dengl burger was a tad salty. The dishes came fast.

First issue: they have this stone grilled steak on the menu, but no proper hoods/ventilation facilities to keep the air inside the restaurant clean. Throughout the night, two other tables in the restaurant ordered the stone grill dish. The whole place filled up with smoke from the stone grills. My friend has medical issues to do with her lungs, so she had a lot of trouble breathing. We had to get out earlier than we had hoped and weren't able to enjoy our dinner. Our hair and clothes also smelled like steak when we left. It lingered all night. Not great.

Second issue: the staff was remarkably unfriendly and disinterested - we felt very unwelcome. We booked a table beforehand, but we had to wait for 6-7 minutes at the door to get our table while we saw the servers having a laugh in the kitchen area, right in front of us. Throughout the night, the servers were rude - gave us sarcastic looks, didn't say a word when putting down our drinks and meals (an 'enjoy your meal' would've been nice). Which is strange, because our encounters with other restaurant/shop emoloyees in the area have been great.

All in all, the atmosphere felt off....

Die Bedienung war freundlich.

Nach der schnellen Getränkebestellung dauerte es bis zur Essensbestellung recht lang, auch das Essen an sich ließ längere Zeit auf sich warten, obwohl es nicht wirklich voll war.

Die Vorspeise (Beef Tatar) war richtig lecker, auch der Hauptgang (Burger) war völlig in Ordnung.

Ein paar unserer Freunde hatten die Käsespätzle, welche etwas zu lange im Topf waren, dadurch waren sie etwas matschig. Diejenigen mit den Käsespätzle waren kurze Zeit vorher schon mal dort, da waren die Käsespätzle sehr lecker.

Auf den Hinweis, dass die Spätzle etwas zu lange im Top waren, reagierte die Bedienung sehr souverän und freundlich und bat an, die Spätzle nochmals neu zu machen.

Insgesamt sind 4/5 gerechtfertigt. Die Spätzle und die längere Wartezeit verhinderten 5/5, für meine Speisen allein wären 5/5 aber auch...

I was here at night, so it was more of a "club" than a restaurant. I fun place to visit while in Maria Alm. It's all ages but mostly a younger crowd the later it gets. It's small but it was a good time. They have "Stump" to play in the bar which is fun and much harder...
