Looks like a nice place - but beware. Our grumpy waiter did not even greet us when he came to our table, just asked mechanically what we wanted to order. I Was a bit stressed and ordered a baked potato with cream cheese and bacon. What I got was basically a 13.90 euro potato for lunch. If you looked carefully you could spot some cream cheese and some tiny flakes of bacon. One of my friends got a overpriced Bolognese that was sub standard. The Gröstl was ok according to my third friend.
I asked the waiter for some more cream cheese since it was really dry. Got a tiny bowl. No more than two tablespoons. When we wanted to pay it turned up that they carged me 90 cents for the sour cream.
When I questioned the extra charge and why he didn't say anything about extra charge he got really upset and said they charged extra for all mayo, ketchup etc. -I'm not the boss, he said. We were stunned, you just don't do that without telling. (Then he said he would deduct 90 cent from the bill).
I couldn't really grasp that it was 71 Euro for a lunch for a party of 3. I asked for a specification, he grunted and showed me. -Look, here's your specification. I had 50 Euros in cash since I noticed big sign with credit cards and a big red X. I said that I'm sorry but we just have 50 in cash. - So, now you can not pay with cash, he said almost screaming. I paid and he turned around and rushed away.
We were polite and calm all through this event and we just can't get why he had to ruin our good mood that day. Not professional.
Something is really wrong with this place and this guy should not work with service it's the boss that is setting the culture and he probably dont have a clue about service and hospitality. He just want to make money I guess. Too bad, a cosy place that could be great with good management and the...
Read moreWow, bummed that this place doesn't have better reviews. The bifang is located on the run down to St. Anton from the Rendl area and is a great stop for some food. You can make reservations for dinner pre-COVID and catch a snow-cat ride up and back from the base.
We stopped here for an early lunch on our recent trip and it wasn't crowded and we got seated immediately. There were several of us and we tried a variety of their dishes, but most of us tried their Venison (deer) stew special that was recommended by our waitress. It turned out to be a great recommendation as the venison was absolutely delicious and the potatoes deserve a special mention.
The owner also maintains an extensive wine list and my group was absolutely raving about the selection, quality, and price of the options. It was so good that many members of the group returned on later days just to enjoy a drink.
Overall this is a very under-rated restaurant and I'd recommend stopping in for some food and tasty...
Read moreNice and friendly staff, but food was unfortunately absolutely laden with salt, to the point where we pulled a solidified salt crystal out of the fondue. Wedges were nice, but again... Absolutely drowned in salt. Piste basher ride up and down was cramped - insisting on 5 per row when there was barely room for 4 adult females, we ended up with half our party sat on people's knees.
So in summary, staff were very nice, food was edible but 25% salt, and piste basher ride was probably dangerously...
