CASA-M - Mediterranes Restaurant & Bar — Restaurant in Sankt Gilgen

One of the most terrible restaurant experiences that I can think of. We waited for over an hour for the first dish to come. That was a burnt Calzone with a thick black crust. My friend was shocked, but so hungry that she decided to cut that unhealthy crust away and eat it. Thankfully our waiter (the only good waiter there, I wish I had his name) saw it and he took it away saying that his colleague shouldn’t have served it. Well, nice of him, but that meant we were “food-less” again. The next “thing” came half an hour later. Incidentally that was the same pasta dish (I mean literally the same plate!) that I saw them wrongly taking to another table some 10-15 minutes previously and then returning to the kitchen and then bringing it back to me 10-15 minutes later. It was pasta aglio e olio (made with tagliatelle for some reason), which was obviously only warmed up (the whole dish was one big clump with tagliatelle glued together, which I had to cut with a knife). It was terrible, but I ate it because I was starving by that point in time. My friends were getting really upset by that time. We noticed that many other guests complained. The table next to us was wrongly given two pizzas (the same pizzas that they were served and finished eating previously). Next thing we know, they serve us these two pizzas?! When we looked at the waiter in disbelief, he said they were on the house to appease us for what happened. At the prospect of not receiving any more food that evening, one of them starts eating a pizza, taking off half of the toppings, because she didn’t like them. 10 minutes later they come with her original order and replace the plates. My other friends gets a new calzone which was this time undercooked (I’ll attach photos). She took the bits out and ate it. Neither calzone nor pizza were good, ignoring all other issues. Our complaints to our waitress were all returned with “it’s not my fault, I am only a waitress here”, without making even a slightest attempt to help. Terrible. The one waiter whom I previously mentioned was professional and felt awkward about the whole situation, so the “food” was on the house in the end. But the whole experience was utterly terrible. It seems like a nice restaurant, I was really shocked. I have a feeling that 90% of the tables complained that evening. I don’t know, to give them some benefit of doubt, it could be that they had some mess-up in the kitchen (and a totally incompetent, unfriendly new waitress), I don’t know, I can only try to do some guessing. After a sunny day, swimmimg in the wolfgangsee, we had to have something special for dinner and we chose Casa Mediterranea. We were hosted by a really polite and professional waiter, Florim, who later we found out that is from the same country as us.

After having a welcoming chat with him, we told him what we were looking for eating, and he suggested us the Pizza with smoked deer prosciutto, mushrooms and rapsberry jam and the pasta with spinach.

The food came to the table in matter of minutes. It was the first time for us trying deer meat. As a big pizza fan, the pizza was fantastic. It was cooked in a napolitan style,the deer prosciutto was a bit sweet but it combined really good with the rapsberry jam. The spinach pasta was perfect as well. It was marinated with rosmary and had the perfect amount of salt.

To end it, we orderd a Panna Cotta, which was really delicious. It was the right choice for a special dinner and we are really thankful to the waiter for the suggestion. We look forward on...

We checked out this restaurant at lunch time. The waiter/owner(?) was serving a table and asked us to give him a few minutes. We were looking for indoor seating which he said they didn't offer. So we decided to check out another restaurant but came back 2 minutes later, after realizing that it was closed. The waiter somehow took this personally and said that they were now full. This was clearly a lie since there were at least 4 tables empty that didn’t have a "reserved" sign on them. In addition, he accepted another family a few minutes after declining us. What a disrespectful and petty behavior. Nobody should have to deal with such high ego when there are so many good restaurants in the area.
